Job Summary
Directs and conducts research, analyses, and strategic planning as a decision support system for finance and District-wide initiatives.
Supervises the Child Accounting Office (which primarily includes payments to charter schools, out of district placements, and compensatory education payments), ensuring District funds are dispersed in accordance with best practices for payments to outside entities and charter schools.
Performs analytics related to student population and financial trends, including District, charter, and out of District schools.
Prepares budget information and projections and coordinates and develops reporting tools for finance staff. Provides support to the Executive Director, Budget and Planning in response to external requests, communication, and ad hoc analyses.
Essential Functions
- Prepares reports and interprets financial data to assist with effective decision-making.
- Supervises the Child Accounting Office to ensure District funds are dispersed in accordance with best practices for payments to outside entities and charter schools.
- Plans, recommends, and oversees fiscal policies and process improvements to encourage effective and efficient management controls;
provides technical expertise and information, and advises on trends.
Provides coordination and support to other offices within Finance, and across the District; reviews pending legislation and incorporates the financial impact into financial forecasts;
participates in the analysis of options and decisions that affect the finances of the District and advises the Executive Director, Budget and Planning of their implications.
- Serves as a liaison with Information Technology and other District offices related to enrollment or financial requirements and coordination.
- Responds to external requests from stakeholders and prepares presentations and reports for internal stakeholders or the public.
- Assists with providing insight into the District's financial operations through analysis of the District's budgets and connects data from multiple sources.
- Responds to external requests and ad hoc analyses. Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business, finance, accounting, statistics, economics, public policy or a related field.
- Seven years of full-time, paid, professional administrative experience in finance, accounting, or a related field in a complex financial environment, at least three of which have been in a supervisory or administrative capacity.
- Master's degree from an accredited college or university in business, finance, accounting, statistics, economics, public policy or a related field.
- Five years of full-time, paid, professional administrative experience in finance, accounting, or a related field in a complex financial environment, at least three of which have been in a supervisory or administrative capacity.
