Job Summary
Provides indirect patient care in the office / clinic setting. Coordinates phone calls, appointments and prescription authorizations.
Acts as liaison between the patients and clinical staff and / or provider. Manages providers schedule, canceling / rescheduling as necessary.
Performs various clerical duties such as correspondence to patients and / or insurance companies.
Core Job Responsibilities
- Provides non-clinical patient support / act as liaison between patients and clinical staff and providers
- Utilizes phone notes for all communication / documentation between self and patient
- Answers phone calls (message to providers, appointments made / changed, normal lab results, referring to nurse when clinically appropriate)
- Manages provider schedules, canceling, rescheduling as needed
- Completes cross training in other positions, as applicable
- Sends letters to patients as needed to inform of procedure / testing dates.
- Sends letters insurance companies appealing denied services
- Facilitates provider to provider calls
- All other duties as assigned by the ACP Administrative Team
Education / Experience Requirements
REQUIRED :
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 1-2 years of experience in a healthcare related setting
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize work and communicate effectively
- Strong computer skills
Preferred :
Experience with insurance company rules / regulations and medical terminology strongly recommended
