Position Summary :

The Controller role works closely with the President to manage and support the day-to-day franchise finance and accounting functions, special projects, and office administrative duties of the Company.

The ideal candidate is results oriented, resourceful, a multi-tasker, and enjoys wearing multiple hats. Additionally, they will be an agile thinker, innovative, have a hands-on approach and be a strong team player.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Maintain current knowledge of franchise accounting organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives, and current accounting standards.
  • Advise management on short-term and long-term financial objectives, policies, and actions.
  • Safeguard assets and ensure accurate and timely recording of all transactions by implementing disciplines of internal audits, controls, and checks across all departments.
  • Establish and maintain compliance systems and controls that verify the integrity of all systems, processes and data and enhance the company’s value.
  • Build, manage and develop an accounting team, which includes a Staff Accountant and A / P, A / R Accountant.
  • Develop budgets, cash flow statements, weekly KPI’s, monthly board reporting and ensure financial plans are consistent with organizational goals.
  • Oversee and supervise HR and Benefits outsource firms, including payroll & HR, Insurance and 401k Plan.
  • Act as treasury liaison to manage relationship with the bank. Release daily wires.
  • Manage gift card escheatment.
  • Manage external auditors and annual financial audit process for Franchise Disclosure Document.
  • Communicate with co-workers, franchisees, management, and others in a courteous and professional manner
  • Assist President with managing financial and office administrative functions of Company.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Strong technical knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state financial regulations, GAAP and audit and reporting requirements
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections
  • Working knowledge of short- and long-term budgeting and forecasting.
  • Work requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage and prioritize several projects to achieve deadlines.
  • Ability to participate in and facilitate group meetings
  • Microsoft Office proficiency and intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
  • Solid presentation and intermediate Power Point skills.

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, CPA preferred.
  • 7-10+ years of accounting / controller experience; Franchisor experience preferred
  • ERP accounting software experience

Job Environment and Conditions :

Working conditions are generally indoors in environmentally controlled conditions. Some travel may be required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or listen. Must be able to remain in a stationary position for at least 75% of the time or more.

The employee must occasionally lift and / or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.
