Position Overview : This position is for an Engineer, Engineer Associate, or Engineering Representative in a power utility company.
The role involves working in the distribution engineering field, with a focus on power systems, distribution systems, and related engineering practices.
Qualifications :
Engineer and Engineering Associate :
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (from an ABET-accredited school)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Technology, Math, or Science
- Professional Engineer’s License (PE) in lieu of a bachelor’s degree
- Previous Distribution Engineering Experience is a plus
- Experience with distribution and related engineering in a power utility company is a plus
Engineering Representative :
- Experience in the Utility industry or related field
- 2-4 year degree from an accredited school (preferred)
- Previous Distribution Engineering Experience is a plus
- Experience with distribution and related engineering in a power utility company is a plus
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
- Proficient with MS Office and other related engineering software systems is highly desired
- Strong technical engineering skills and a solid understanding of power systems
- Knowledge of general engineering and construction principles
- Knowledge of electrical system operations, distribution systems, underground and overhead construction practices
- Experience in writing and executing switching orders is preferred
- Working knowledge of ARMS, JETS / JETS Scheduling, Designer / GIS, CSS, Socket, DistView, TCMS Web, NJUNS, EDEN, OUA, and OFS is preferred
- Familiarity with the Franchise Manual, Distribution Bulletins, Engineering Handbook / Specifications, Distribution Operating Procedures, ARC Flash Requirements, Metering Blue Book, Consistency Manual, and Financial / Business goals is preferred
- Ability to prioritize and organize work to manage multiple projects and meet strict deadlines
- Excellent project management skills with a focus on achieving desired results
- Ability to collaborate with customers and team members effectively
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Positive attitude and ability to provide excellent customer service both internally and externally
- Working knowledge of NESC (National Electrical Safety Code)
- Must have a valid driver’s license
Key Responsibilities :
- Assist in distribution engineering activities and power systems design
- Execute and manage projects related to electrical systems, including construction practices for overhead and underground systems
- Collaborate with customers, engineers, sales, and line crew personnel to ensure efficient operations
- Support the development and implementation of switching orders and project management strategies
- Ensure adherence to safety standards and operational guidelines
