The Occupational Health RN / Nurse Case Manager is a multifaceted role that combines healthcare management, transitional work coordination, and on-site occupational health services.
This position is responsible for executing the comprehensive post-offer medical clearance process for candidates across various GE Appliances components.
The OHN / NCM also conducts telephonic follow up evaluations for injured and ill workers as well as serves as a backup for the Transitional Work Program Coordinator.
The OHN / NCM will also work in various Occupational Health Clinics providing care to employees. The role emphasizes assessing candidates' fitness for work, promoting workplace safety, ensuring compliance with health and disability laws, facilitating the accommodation process for newly hired employees, managing the transitional work program for employees with restrictions or accommodations, and providing initial assessment of on-the-job injuries.

JOB DESCRIPTION / RESPONSIBILITIES :
Responsibilities :
Post offer Nurse Case Manager :
Conduct detailed reviews of Medical History Questionnaires (MHQs) and determine the necessity of medical clearances.
Utilize the Electronic Medical Records System (Cority) to manage new hire health profiles, documenting all pertinent medical history, exams, and clearance outcomes.
Communication and Coordination :
Update HR / Recruitment teams on candidate status through dashboard updates in Cority, including non-medical information relevant to candidate progress.
Maintain internal notes for clearance processes and communicate extensively with candidates about accommodations and business decisions regarding their capability to work.
Accommodation Management :
Administer new hire requests for accommodations or restrictions, engaging with site stakeholders to find suitable workplace solutions.
Coordinate with legal teams for accommodation requests requiring review, ensuring compliance with legal standards and business capabilities.
Documentation and Compliance :
Document physical exam requirements, Mobile Equipment Operator and DOT clearances, and maintain records of accommodation / restriction requests and outcomes
Follow-Up Triage :
Conduct phone-based assessments for employees who are ill or have sustained workplace or non-workplace injuries and do not have an assigned nurse case manager.
Provide triage and guidance regarding their injury or illness.
Assist employees in understanding when to schedule an in-person visit with their building nurse.
Educate and support employees in their recovery process to help them return to their pre-injury or pre-illness state.
Facilitate the return-to-work process for employees who are off work due to their injury or illness.
Transitional Work Program Coordination ( PRN ) :
Assist employees with placement into the Transitional Work Program (TWP) within the HR / Business policy. Educate and answer employees' questions regarding the program.
Chart within Cority and ensure restrictions and cases are entered appropriately.
Coordinate and communicate placement into the TWP program with appropriate stakeholders. Clarify restrictions with ordering provider when necessary.
Utilize the workflow dashboard to ensure comprehensive management of cases.
Comply with GE Appliances and Network policies regarding confidentiality.
On-Site Occupational Health RN ( PRN ) :
Provide initial assessment of on-the-job injuries.
Administer first aid and emergency care as needed.
Refer employees to a higher level of care if necessary.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all medical assessments and treatments in Cority
Communicate with supervisors and HR regarding the status of injured employees.
Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company policies regarding workplace injuries.
What You'll Bring to Our Team
Role Requirements :
Demonstrated proficiency in Office 365 and healthcare information systems, preferably Cority.
Ability to make independent nursing judgments, solve problems, prioritize workload, and maintain confidentiality.
Ability to understand job physical demands analyses.
Knowledge of case management, workers' compensation, ADA, and government (OSHA) regulations.
Ability to coordinate and manage transitional work programs, ensuring compliance and effective communication with all stakeholdersas needed.
Ability to provide on-site occupational health services, including initial assessment and management of on-the-job injuriesas needed.
Qualifications :
Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure.
A minimum of 3 years' experience in nursing, with preference given to those with experience in occupational health or case management.
Certification in occupational health nursing or case management preferred (COHN, COHN-S, COHN-CM, CCM).
Work Environment : This is a hybrid on-site / remote position.
This combined role is essential in ensuring that new hires are medically fit for their roles, employees with restrictions or accommodations are effectively managed within the Transitional Work Program, and on-the-job injuries are promptly and effectively addressed.
