Position Details :
Join the dynamic team at Hartford Healthcare’s Hartford Hospital as a valued Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner in the challenging yet rewarding realm of Cardiothoracic ICU! The successful Advanced Practitioner (APP) will support patient care from the point of admission to discharge in service, Step-Down, and ICU.
This cardiac critical care APP will be the cornerstone of patient care, managing multiple cardiac critical care patients with varied critical illness, comprehensive physical assessments, interpretation of diagnostic results, hemodynamic / ventilator management, and invasive procedures.
Extensive training and supervision are provided to the APPs for skills such as arterial lines, central lines, chest tubes, feeding tubes, and removal of pacer wires.
Role : Open to Physician Assistants and Acute Care Nurse Practitioners

Setting : Inpatient, cardiac / cardiothoracic ICU, critical care
Schedule : Full-time, rotating.

Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioner Role Scope :
Under established guidelines and in collaboration and / or supervision with the practice physician(s), Advanced Practitioners perform routine physical examinations, and formulate medical, educational, and psychosocial plans to treat patients.
In consultation with the physician(s) and care team members, Advanced Practitioners develop plans for further evaluation of health needs, e.
g., referral to other health team members or specialists.
Advanced Practitioners provide appropriate treatment for problems within the scope of the provider’s practice as designated by protocols and identifies problems outside of their scope of practice and refers appropriately to physician.

Qualifications
Requirements :
Licensure : Unrestricted State of Connecticut Medical License (or eligible)
Training : Certified or board-eligible Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner
Experience : New graduates welcome to apply
Preferred :
1+ years in a cardiac and / or critical care setting
