The Team : Analytic Risk & Quality (ARQ) has a global scope and consists of experienced analysts with substantial experience in the Capital Markets. ARQ is charged with :

  • Providing an independent, risk-based assessment of the inherent risks of various analytic products produced by Sustainable1 (S1) and the robustness of the analysis in order to enhance analytical quality by fostering effective analytical processes and defendable results.
  • Providing Regulators, Senior Management, Risk Committees and Audit with an independent view of analytical risks and assessment of the application of the methodology and models used to produce S1 analytic products by conducting focused risk-based activities.

The Impact :

Responsible for ARQ’s Validation, Monitoring and Risk Identification activities in multiple analytic product lines / markets.

Proactively foster analytical excellence and transparency through assessing S1’s analytic production, the methodologies upon which they are based, and evidence of the analysis performed.

Responsibilities :

As an Analytic Risk Officer, independently validating and monitoring the appropriateness of S1’s analytic products and their related processes.

Specific Risk Based Activities include, but are not limited to, evaluating (i) that new / revised methodologies and models are fit for purpose, (ii) the defensibility of the analyses performed, including the application of analytic judgement, (iii) the evidence of the analysis supporting them, (iv) the transparency related to the published rationales, and (iv) the appropriate use of underlying models.

  • Managing the relationships with the first line leaders as well as serving as an ambassador of ARQ’s views, positions, and messages to various stakeholders (which can include Regulators, Senior Management, SPGI Divisions and the Corporate Risk and Compliance functions).
  • Lead / contribute to team’s development and maintenance of various Analytic Platforms / visualizations, including design and implementation to further analytic capabilities and enable insights.

Ensure the ongoing development and maintenance of metrics for S1’s analytic portfolio.

  • Facilitate emerging risk identification and the development of remedies.
  • Provide analytical insights and collaborate with the first line, on holistic risk mitigation through an integrated framework and goal alignment.

Provide insights and advice on best practices and observations across the portfolio.

  • Design and perform issue-specific tests related to various aspects of the analytical process.
  • Prepare Risk Based Reports and materials, focusing on key systemic analytically relevant risks and trends, and assist with the preparation of Board materials as requested.
  • Research external market data and synthesize the results in order to identify key trends and risks.

Qualifications :

  • Passion for ESG and related topics
  • BA or BS in Business, Finance, or related field. Graduate degree preferred.
  • 4+ years in capital markets analysis.
  • Demonstrated track record of critical thinking and problem solving.
  • Able to demonstrate independence and objectivity.
  • Proficiency with Excel, SQL, VBA, R, Python preferred.
  • Detail oriented and able to solicit high quality work in a collaborative environment
