Duties The Direct Support Professional interacts with and supports the individual in a variety of potential settings, including community, family or individual homes and generic community settings.
- Participates in training concerning Consumer outcomes / goals
- Provides direct care to Consumer, as needed, including activities of daily living such as feeding, bathing, dressing, toileting, etc.
- Prepares or assists with preparing meals that promote proper nutrition, good health and meet Consumer-specific dietary needs
- Provides rehabilitative and therapeutic activity training to Consumers to achieve outcomes / goals
- Documents Consumer progress toward outcomes / goals in Daily Progress Report(s)
- Interact with and supports the individual in a variety of potential settings, including community, family or individual homes and generic community settings.
- Provide personal care, instruction, guidance, mentoring, companionship and support, often across a 24-hour period, according to the individual's Person-Centered Plan / Individual Support Plan (ISP).
- Provide a level of care that enhances the health, safety, dignity and contentment of every consumer served.
Requirements
- Must be trained on ISPs of all individuals they support
- Completion of agency’s 24 hours of annual training
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Two (2) years’ experience working with individuals with developmental / intellectual disabilities preferred.
The typical hours of operation are 7 : 30a.m. to 5 : 00 p.m. Monday to Friday; work hours may vary according to program needs. Travel is required.
