The ShiftSupervisor provides responsible supervision of the administrativeand operational security activities and staff on a specific shiftin a facility.
Directlysupervise and manage operations of security staff andinmates / residents on the shift in the performance of theirduties.
Provide for adequatestaffing in areas supervised; fill in as needed during periods ofshort staffing.
Engage and participatein recruiting, hiring, orientating staff, and other staffing needsin areas supervised.
Makerecommendations concerning personnel matters and assist in theeffective management of facilityresources.
Qualifications :
High school diploma, GED certification or equivalent isrequired.
Three years experience in a criminal justice field orother acceptable related field, which includes two years in asupervisorycapacity.
Additional education may be substitutedfor the experience on a year-for-yearbasis.
Completion of basic pre-servicecorrectional officer training and, where applicable, be acommissioned security officer licensed by the state ofemployment.
A valid driver's license isrequired.
Must demonstrate knowledge of the practices andprinciples of correctional facility management; pertinentcorrections laws, rules and regulations;
and the principles andpractices of supervision andtraining.
MinimumAge Requirement : Must be at least 18years of age.
