Senior Structural Engineer
AST is growing, and we need a Senior Structural Engineer to join our staff. We’re looking for a talented, energetic, and experienced professional engineer.
AST’s structural group provides design services on a variety of commercial and light industrial building projects throughout the U.
S. and Canada. Our ideal candidate will possess sound technical ability and a broad range of experience with commercial and light industrial building construction.

Job Description :
Design of all structural systems for a building using reinforced concrete, masonry, structural steel, light-gage metal, and timber.
Post-tensioned concrete design experience is a plus.
- Preparation of engineering calculations and oversight of the production of construction documents
- Engage in advanced design level functions including :
- Preliminary, schematic design and layout of structural systems
- Perform advanced design and analysis
- Coordinate the structural design with architects, other engineering disciplines, the Building Official, and contractors
- Perform construction administration functions including the review of shop drawings and interpretation of construction documents
- Mentor and guide the efforts of less experienced staff
Required Skills / Qualifications :
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering (Master of Science preferred)
- Minimum of nine (9) years of practical experience in structural analysis and design of commercial and light industrial structures
- Professional Engineering (PE) with Structural I Certification (MLE) or Structural Engineer (SE) license - all licenses in good standing
- Working knowledge of standard construction practices and ICC, ACI, AISC, ASCE, etc.
- Strong and fluent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to lead a design team while interacting with Architects, Owners, and Contractors as well as co-workers
- Advanced knowledge of common structural engineering software packages
- Experience with Bluebeam CAD Revu and project delivery using Building Information Modeling delivery is a plus
- Advanced knowledge of commercial design and construction techniques and practices is a must
- Ability to travel locally and nationally on an occasional basis during construction administration
Compensation / Benefits :
Salary for the position will be dependent upon experience and skill level. Candidate will have access to AST’s insurance plans, 401(k), PTO, and other benefits.
