Job Description :

The Liberty Partnerships Program (LLP) Student Navigator provides a variety of services to high school students enrolled in the Liberty Partnerships Program at Onondaga Community College.

They serve as a support person, advocate, and case manager, assisting students in overcoming barriers to successfully graduate from high school and either matriculate into college or enter the local workforce.

The LPP Student Navigator will provide proactive student engagement and assistance with implementing effective student support services to increase student retention, academic success, and progression towards high school graduation.

This includes assisting students with identifying personal and academic goals, utilizing available school resources, and building meaningful relationships with students in pursuit of their goals.

  • Implement pre-identified strategies to create an educational pathway that supports student retention and success.
  • Serve as a case manager and mentor to provide holistic student support services.
  • Assist in the recruitment of new students at partner high schools.
  • Create a Personal Learning Plan (PLP) with program students and review it throughout the year.
  • Collaborate with school staff and administrators to provide additional support to students.
  • Consult with faculty / administration to develop intervention strategies.
  • Provide social and emotional programming to students.
  • Collaborate with school counselors to discuss enrollment issues and graduation progress.
  • Provide academic support and referrals for content-specific help.
  • Assist in planning and implementing yearlong LPP programming and activities.
  • Document student interactions highlighting progress and challenges.
  • Utilize SCSD's SchoolTool to monitor student grades and attendance.
  • Assist students in resolving problems and developing self-advocacy skills.
  • Recruit new students to maintain service to 350 students.
  • Perform other assignments as needed.

Requirements :

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university or foreign equivalency with two (2) years of relevant experience.
  • Or a Master’s degree with a minimum of (1) year of relevant experience.
  • Experience working with a culturally diverse student body from historically underrepresented and underserved populations.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :

Bilingual in Spanish preferred; English and another language will be considered.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES :

  • Ability to work with various educational audiences and students facing academic challenges.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive relationships with students and peers.
  • Knowledge of K-12 systems.
  • Experience supporting students at risk of dropping out.
  • Experience in organizing and interpreting data.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Onondaga Community College offers an excellent benefits package including health, dental, and vision insurance. Employees participate in the NYS Retirement System.

Salary range is $44,000-55,000 depending on relevant experience. Official transcripts are required at the time of hire. A post-offer background screening is also required.
