JOB DESCRIPTION
The Nurse Unit Manager (LPN or RN) assumes the role of a management position involved with providing leadership and monitoring of quality resident care.
The Nurse Unit Manager (LPN or RN) through the management of nursing personnel on designated nursing units during assigned shifts will be responsible for ascertaining that nursing standards are met, and quality resident care is delivered.
The Nurse Unit Manager (LPN or RN) shall perform a variety of direct and indirect nursing services to meet the personnel needs and promote the well-being of the residents in accordance with acceptable nursing practices and the policies of the facility.
- Makes daily rounds of nursing unit, e valuates resident care and staff performance, a cts as a liaison between staff and nursing administration
- Interprets policies, procedures, standards and rules and regulations to all unit managers and nursing staff, pr ovides positive and / or corrective action in dealing with respective unit nursing personnel
- Communicates pertinent organizational and departmental information to other supervisors and all nursing units
- Maintains records that are pertinent to the operation and management of nursing units, condition of residents, resident census and nursing service rendered
- Identifies staff, supply and / or equipment needs and provides input into plans of correction
- Ability to function effectively and efficiently in emergency situations
- Thorough knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid rules and regulations with regards to Resident assessments and care plan implementation
- Evaluates and recommends changes / improvements in areas affecting quality resident care
- Communicates with residents, family members, physicians and staff to assure resident satisfaction
- Establish, maintain and promote effective working relationships with nursing personnel, residents, family members and ancillary staff
- All other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
- Current R.N. or LPN registration, within state
- B.S. degree preferred
- Three years experience preferred with a minimum two years in a long-term care facility
- Minimum of one-year previous leadership experience
