Nurses assigned to C.M. Tucker - Nursing Care Center are currently eligible for a 20% supplemental pay along with their base salary as long as they remain an employee with C.
M. Tucker - Nursing Care Center.
This position is located at the Department of Mental Health, C. M. Tucker Nursing Care Center-Stone Pavilion, 2200 Harden Street, Columbia, SC 29203.
As the Registered Nurse, working under Nurse Manager and Director of Nursing, you will assist in planning and providing nursing care in a designated unit or area.
The Registered Nurse is responsible for assessing the nursing needs, initiating nursing interventions, and delegating the assignment for nursing personnel.
Responsibilities for this Registered Nurse, Institutional include but are not limited to :
- Identifies symptoms of physical and emotional illness of residents by performing assessments, participating in care conferences, and initiating and maintaining nursing care plans.
- Participates in the administration and documentation of medications and treatments to residents. Assists physicians, executes doctor's orders and maintains other nursing records and reports.
- Observes the condition of residents by making frequent nursing rounds, supervising and evaluating nursing care and maintaining a safe therapeutic environment for residents.
- Conducts and participates in training programs. Participates in orientation and trains new employees.
- Knows the philosophy, mission, policies and standards of the facility and nursing service and through its implementation, sets standards of quality nursing.
- Plans, coordinates and evaluates the performance of nursing personnel under their supervision.
- Charge Nurse for shift : May assume role of the Nurse Manager II in his / her absence.
- Prepares time schedules and assigns nursing care of residents and personnel according to their skill and preparation.
- Coordinates care with other disciplines and promotes good interpersonal relationships through effective communication.
- Serves on nursing committees and participates in the nursing service programs.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. Must be licensed by the South Carolina State Board of Nursing (LLR).

The selected candidate must have knowledge of techniques and practices of the nursing profession, medical and nursing terminology, administrative methods, and procedures.
Possess the ability to adhere to standing orders, policies, and procedures. Plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.
Establish and maintain the confidence and cooperation of patients; interact with patients in a culturally competent professional manner.
Communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds; Ability to stand, walk, reach, pull, push, stoop, bend, and climb at least two (2) or three (3) flights of stairs.
Ability to tolerate noise level and circulate in resident areas for long periods. Must be able to work repetitive unusual resident behaviors.
May function as charge nurse.
