Job Summary

VSolvit is currently seeking an intermediate Systems Administrator to support our Naval Surface Warfare Center, Corona Division (NSWC Corona) Range Systems (RS20) customer in Norco, California.

The System Administrator will be responsible for providing desktop and server support to the user community of government and contractor personnel.

Information assurance support will form an important part of the responsibilities.

As a System Administrator on this program, the successful candidate will be responsible for helping to identify and resolve issues regarding system performance, access and end-user support requests across a variety of technologies.

The ability to identify, communicate, and resolve technical issues is important in all aspects of this role.

As with any position, additional expectations exist. Some of these are, but are not limited to, adhering to normal working hours, meeting deadlines, following company policies as outlined by the Employee Handbook, communicating regularly with assigned supervisor(s), and staying focused on the assigned tasks including company meetings, and completing other tasks as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • The Systems Administrator will be expected to maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all routine Systems Administration functions to assure security requirements and operational goals are met.
  • This team environment involves working with other system managers as well as developers and analysts. Support consists of troubleshooting hardware, software, and network related issues encountered by the supported users.
  • Support includes Windows, Linux, and VM based clients and servers, as well as assisting with common access cards (PKI support).
  • Perform installation of new software releases, system upgrades, and evaluation of new programs.
  • Assist with the maintenance of the security accreditations on the supported organization's IT equipment.
  • Monitor system configurations to ensure data integrity.
  • Create and assist others in the preparation of monthly status and progress reports.
  • Help maintain security accreditation documentation.

  • Required knowledge or demonstrated willingness to learn :
  • In depth knowledge of SMTP, DNS, DHCP, Proxy and NTP technologies.
  • Knowledge of Storage Area Network technologies such as iSCSI, SRP, NDMP, FC, FCoE, Infiniband.
  • Knowledge of Windows (Server and Workstation) and VMware systems administration.
  • Skills in general server administration, to include software support management.
  • Skills in virtualization design, configuration, and management utilizing mature technologies such as VMware.
  • Skills in centralized identity management software administration, such as Microsoft Active Directory.
  • Skills in design, configuration, and administration of centralized Log Management solutions such as Splunk.
  • Ability to perform data backup / archive / restore using EMC Networker, ARCserve, and / or Symantec or similar technologies.
  • Proficiency with system access controls, implementation of authentication models and encryption, data integrity management, and business recovery.
  • Ability to isolate and resolve hardware and software problems

Basic Qualifications

  • Security+ certificate
  • 5+ years System Administration Experience
  • 5+ years experience with Microsoft Windows server administration
  • experience with VMWare administration
  • experience with AWS or other cloud environment
  • United States Citizenship required
  • Active DoD SECRET Security Clearance or the ability to obtain one

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior DoD systems experience
  • Knowledge of Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) and Network Policy
  • Relevant experience performing server and network scans to identify system vulnerabilities.
  • Familiarity with Linux
  • Experience with PowerShell, other scripting languages
  • 5+ years Help Desk support
  • Endpoint Security Solution experience (like HBSS)
