Physical Therapist Assistant Course Instructor
Provide guidance and facilitate skills / competency assessments for Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) courses, including labs and independent study. Assist the primary instructor with the lab classes in the PTA program. Participate in skills assessment development (to include the following : basic patient care skills, range of motion measurements, manual muscle testing, neuromotor assessment, special testing, and body mechanics), instruction, and grading. Provide instruction during labs to facilitate learning of didactic material.

Knowledge of The Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) standards for Physical Therapist Assistants (PTAs) Knowledge of the PTA Program's skills requirements Knowledge of physical therapy basic patient care skills Knowledge of human anatomy and physiology Knowledge of the duties, roles, and responsibilities of a physical therapist assistant Knowledge of the Collin College website and PTA Program website Knowledge of Canvas software, general Microsoft Office software

Physical Demands & Working Conditions
Medium Work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and / or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects. Positions in this class typically include talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, walking and repetitive motions, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching, climbing and balancing, plus pushing, pulling and lifting. Relatively free from unpleasant environmental conditions or hazards. Office environment. Frequent physical effort required.
Requirements
Level III (220PT) : Associate degree in Physical Therapy Assistant from an accredited institution and one (1) year experience as a Physical Therapy Assistant.
Level IV (222PT) : Master's degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited institution and one (1) year experience as a Physical Therapist. Level V (225PT) : Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited institution and one (1) year experience as a Physical Therapist.
Licenses and Certifications
Level III (220PT) : Texas PTA license. Level V (225PT) : Texas PT license.
