Job Title : Production Maintenance Mechanic

Reports To : Production Maintenance Supervisor

Department : Production - Microwave

Location : Microwave

Summary :

The Production Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance on production equipment to ensure minimal downtime and maintain a safe, efficient manufacturing environment.

Essential Functions :

  • Work with mechanical, pneumatic maintenance, machinery, equipment, and light electrical repair.
  • Diagnose malfunctions in machinery and equipment to determine the extent of repairs needed.
  • Perform preventative maintenance inspections and timely efficient service on machines while coordinating PM schedule with supervisor.
  • Coordinates with Storeroom / Inventory Specialist by identifying parts and services needed to complete maintenance tasks / projects.
  • Makes necessary modifications and implements test runs; confers with Supervisor regarding test results and makes additional alterations to machinery as required.
  • Collects feedback on potential repairs & improvements.
  • Understand company policies, follows and enforces safety regulations, participates in safety initiatives, learns production schedule, and is aware of production schedules when estimating completion times of a repair assignment.
  • Recommends measures to improve efficiency, equipment performance, and quality of the product. Will also diagnose mechanical issues and recommend corrective actions to minimize future downtime.
  • Thoroughly cleans machines and machine parts (removing & reinstalling as necessary), maintains shop areas, parts, tools, and supplies in an organized and clean environment and ensures proper care of tools and equipment.
  • Prepares reports documenting work performed.
  • And other duties as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications :

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Technical certification or vocational training

preferred. Minimum of 2+ years of maintenance experience in a production or manufacturing setting. Must

have basic Excel knowledge for reporting. Basic computer skills needed for CMMS system & Mechanics Log.

The ability to read blueprints, schematics, and equipment manuals is required. Experience operating forklifts,

scissor lifts, or similar equipment preferred (or willingness to be trained). Must be able to read a tape measure

and have general math concept knowledge.

Skills and Competencies :

This role requires a strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of pneumatics, welding, fabrication, and basic electrical systems. Must have strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team. Strong analytical skills needed to help troubleshoot. Must be a self-starter and able to work independently or with a team member. Good communication skills are a must. Organized with attention to details while maintaining the work in a fast-paced and stressful environment.

Language Ability :

Ability to read and comprehend instructions, manuals, correspondence and memos in English. Ability to understand and follow instructions.

Work Environment

The work environment is in a manufacturing facility. The environment is often dynamic and collaborative, with collaboration being essential in this role. Employees will contribute to overall production goals, with employees supporting the efficiency and effectiveness of the manufacturing processes. The manufacturing facility involves hands-on tasks, machinery operation, and adherence to GMPs. This setting requires attention to detail, adherence to protocols, and the ability to adapt to the demands of the company. Working hours outside of standard office hours will be required.

This position requires the ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Frequent standing, walking, bending, climbing ladders, and working in confined spaces or at heights. Tolerance for working in varying temperatures and noisy environments typical of a manufacturing plant.
