Job Title : Mechanical Assembly Technician
Job Description
The machinery has critical dimensional specifications and operating relationships where fitting of components, calibration of operating units, alignment and / or balancing of completed assemblies requires the application of skilled mechanical principles and a broad knowledge of assembly techniques.
The Mechanical Assembly Technician assists with final inspection and testing of machinery to ensure equipment meets performance standards and requirements.
Responsibilities
- Mechanical Assembly of complex mechanical units requiring problem-solving, skilled workmanship, and accuracy.
- Position, erect, align, and level sub-assemblies, units, and separate components.
- Perform fitting, aligning, timing, calibrating, and other operations incidental to the mechanical assembly of the machine.
- Read and interpret engineering prints / specifications, electrical schematics, manufacturing manuals, and / or verbal / written instructions.
- Utilize handheld tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, drill guns, crimpers, etc.
- Use precision measuring and gauging instruments to inspect and verify conformance of parts to specifications / tolerances.
- Perform quality work checks to ensure the product meets quality standards.
- Discern quality of parts and materials used in production.
- Identify product defects and complete appropriate documentation when defects are identified.
- Rework and / or repair assembled equipment and products according to engineering specification changes.
Essential Skills
- 5-10 years of mechanical machine assembly experience.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and schematics.
- Manual dexterity for assembling parts quickly and accurately.
- Ability to lift 30-50 pounds regularly.
- Willingness to work on feet for the majority of the shift.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with drilling, tapping, blueprint reading, schematic interpretation, machine assembly, machine building, troubleshooting, electrical components, electrical assembly, electrical wiring, and electrical circuits.
