POSITION : Long-Term Substitute Elementary Teaching Position (2nd Grade)
STARTING DATE : August 20, 2024
Qualifications :
- Education : Bachelor’s degree in education from an accredited college or university required
- Certification : Valid Michigan Elementary Teaching Certificate for Elementary K-5 all subjects (K-8 All Subjects Self Contained Classroom) required.
Early Childhood Endorsement in Education preferred
- Ability to plan and implement elementary grade level curriculum and effectively provide instruction to all students
- Ability and willingness to individualize instruction to meet the
needs of the students
- Ability to work collaboratively with others within a team
- Receptive to feedback and continuously in pursuit of improving classroom effectiveness and achievement of student outcomes
- Ability to set and maintain behavioral limits in a consistent manner
- Ability to remain objective, calm and neutral when responding to student’s inappropriate behaviors
- Ability to maintain student confidentiality
- Ability to clearly express thoughts in writing, exhibit acceptable standards of grammatical usage, spelling, and structure
- Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements, Board of Education policies, and applicable State and Federal laws
Responsibilities :
- Display a genuine love of teaching students
- Work collaboratively with other educators in planning and facilitating classroom activities
- Effectively implement district approved curriculum
- Demonstrate effective instructional behaviors and techniques
- Demonstrate effective behavior management and classroom management skills with students
- Effectively communicate, consult, and team with parents, staff, agencies, and others
- Identify student needs and make appropriate referrals and develop strategies for individual education plans
- Evaluate students’ academic and social growth, keep appropriate records and prepare progress reports
- Adjust instruction, the environment or activities to accommodate a variety of learning styles
- Interpret student achievement data to inform instruction
- Maintain student records, as required
- Maintain contact with families regarding student progress and programming
- Complete assigned responsibilities within agreed upon or established timelines
- Utilize technology available in the teaching and learning process
- Participate in conferences, in-services, and workshops to facilitate on-going professional growth / development
