The Barowsky School of Business is seeking a part-time instructor to teach a Healthcare Executive MBA program course during the fall of 2024 (October- December 2024).
The class meets on Thursday online and in person on four Saturdays.
Responsibilities
- Teach a three-unit course at the graduate level
- Evaluate and grade student work and provide feedback to students
- Mentor and advise students on the progress of their projects and coursework
- Uphold academic performance standards and integrity
- Instructors are required to work with the School to complete assessments of their course for AACSB Assurance of Learning purposes
Course Description
MBAH 5410-1 Pharmaceutical and Biotech Industry (October 22-December 7, 2024; online on Thursdays from 7 : 00 pm-9 : 00 pm and in-person on four Saturdays from 1 : 00 pm - 5 : 00 pm)
Pharmaceuticals and biotech are an important source of health improvements. Accordingly, understanding the forces shaping new drug development and access to medicines is an important concern of public health.
This course provides an introduction to the pharmaceutical industry. It begins with an overview of the history of the industry, its evolution, and its unique economics, then students critically examine a range of policy issues related to pharmaceuticals, biotech, and public health.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in Business or Management with an emphasis on Pharma / Biotech or a closely related field.
- Experience teaching Pharma / Biotech industry courses at the MBA or graduate level.
- Working proficiency in Google Suite (Docs, Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Sheets, and Slides) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
Proficiency in working with Zoom.
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD in Business or Management with emphasis on Pharmaceutical / Biotechnology / Healthcare-related fields, or PhD in Pharma / Biotech-related fields, or Terminal degree in Pharma-related fields ( PharmD etc).
- Experience teaching Pharma / Biotech industry at the MBA level. Work experience in the Pharma / Biotech industry where managerial decision making is involved.
