Director of Pharmacy
Job Summary and Responsibilities
As the Director of Pharmacy, you will be responsible for overseeing the activities of our hospital pharmacy. You will lead the department, driving innovations in pharmacy practice and recommending improvements to administration.
Key Responsibilities :
- Strategic Planning : Develop and implement quality improvement, fiscal, productivity, and patient satisfaction goals in collaboration with senior management.
- Supervision and Guidance : Oversee the maintenance and dissemination of drug information, providing in-service education to hospital personnel and consulting with patients, staff, and medical teams.
- Staff Support : Assist staff pharmacists with routine duties as needed and offer professional and technical guidance to pharmacy personnel.
- Leadership and Development : Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of new programs, acting as a consultant in your areas of expertise.
- Department Management : Plan and set goals for the department that align with the overall objectives of the Hospital and Pharmacy Shared Services.
- Organizational Leadership : Provide effective organization and direction for the department, ensuring appropriate delegation of functions.
- Quality Improvement : Monitor and support the collection, documentation, and reporting of quality assessment and improvement data.
Qualifications :
- Education : B.S. or PharmD from an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy required.
- Experience : At least five years of hospital leadership experience or completion of a PGY2 leadership residency preferred.
- Legal Knowledge : Proficient in the legal responsibilities of a pharmacist and familiar with all state and federal laws and regulations governing pharmacy services.
- Clinical Knowledge : In-depth understanding of pathophysiology, diagnostic criteria, pharmacokinetics, pharmacotherapeutics, and the application of new medications and technology.
- Licensure : Current Pharmacist license in good standing with the State Board of Pharmacy required. Current Consultant Pharmacist license in good standing with the State Board of Pharmacy, if applicable (Florida only).
Controlled Substance License in good standing with the State Board of Pharmacy, if applicable.
