Alexandrias Life Science Team supports the company by providing scientific and technical expertise to help guide three of Alexandrias four core verticals : Real Estate, Venture Investments, and Thought Leadership.

Real Estate activities include diligence on potential life science and technology tenants, as well as monitoring of existing tenants through review of financials, scientific milestones, news and press releases, and meetings with management.

Venture Investment activities, conducted through the Companys strategic venture capital platform, Alexandria Venture Investments, help the Company discover and invest in innovative companies in life science, agtech, and technology and include associated responsibilities that span due diligence and in-depth reviews of potential investments, their therapeutic areas and respective competitive landscapes, and the strength and level of innovation of their technology platforms.

Thought Leadership activities include preparing for and organizing Alexandria-led and community life science events that convene, accelerate, and enable the growth of life science activities in our innovation hubs.

We are seeking an Associate Life Science to support our Greater Boston operations by providing additional research capabilities and expertise in the life science and technology industries, as well as supporting due diligence and business development activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Conduct in-depth research (qualitative and quantitative) relevant to various disease and therapeutic areas, U.S. healthcare and regulatory activities, and broader trends in the life science and technology industries.
  • Assist in scientific and financial diligence and underwriting of prospective tenants for Alexandrias portfolio, and monitor various performance indicators relevant to companies in Alexandrias network.
  • Contribute to Alexandrias venture capital activity by sourcing and meeting with potential investments, supporting related due diligence, and composing investment reports and memos.
  • Be responsible for one-on-one meetings with prospective and portfolio companies, ongoing evaluation of their research and development plans and fundraising efforts, review of pitch decks, etc.
  • Engage in business development and networking activities across the life science ecosystem.

Other Responsibilities :

  • Collaborate cross-functionally across Alexandrias leasing, accounting, finance, and regional leadership teams to support core business objectives.
  • Prepare correspondence, background information, and / or event materials as needed.

Qualifications and Experience :

  • Bachelors degree in a life science-related field required. Masters or PhD a plus.
  • Minimum 3-5 years prior work experience (or equivalent educational experience, e.g., PhD work) within the life science industry in translational research, clinical development, or financial analysis capacity preferred.
  • Solid understanding of life science and technology concepts, including, but not limited to, chemistry and biology fundamentals, the drug development process, the U.

S. healthcare and regulatory landscape, and human disease.

  • Strong research and analytical skills, and high attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently, and effectively manage and organize multiple projects concurrently.
  • Excellent written communication skills a must, with ability to create concise and impactful written reports, correspondence, and responses to requests from team members as well as executive-level members within the Company.
  • Communicate and collaborate with co-workers, management, and others in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of capital markets and finance a plus.
  • Some travel required.
