What’s the role in a nutshell?

We are looking for a highly motivated individual who is experienced in market research, business development and account development to join our business - someone who can spot opportunities for commercial growth.

We have several growth areas to target, including market research, consumer product and sensory research. It’s the role of the growth team to talk with authority to C-Suite clients about our variety of research methodologies.

More about our opportunity

We see this as a key position within the business, reporting into our Commercial and Account Growth Lead. You will be part of a team that is elevating our account management and business development to another level, connecting with clients in a different, more holistic, more ambitious and more senior way way beyond the typical research agency relationship!

The role will be a mix of Client Account Management and Business Management, ensuring that both new and established clients are getting the best experience they can from MMR and spotting any account growth opportunities along the way.

The role would be based in the US, with the desire and ability for frequent travel across the country.

This role will in part be shaped by the individual, but key elements will include :

1. Managing Client Accounts :

Strategic Account Management : Take ownership of designated CPG client accounts, focusing on business development and

delivering exceptional service.

  • Strategic Planning : Develop and execute annual strategic account plans, identifying growth opportunities and potential risks.
  • Client Engagement : Lead crucial client conversations including proposal briefings and account reviews, ensuring alignment with client objectives.
  • Proposal Development : Create compelling project proposals tailored to client needs while ensuring profitability targets are met.
  • Consultative Approach : Provide valuable advice and consultancy to clients, particularly in New Product Development (NPD) and research, elevating the client experience.
  • Methodology Promotion : Advocate for MMR proprietary methodologies to potential clients, displaying their effectiveness and relevance.
  • Internal Consultation : Provide internal consultancy and approve research design, proposal, and debrief content as needed.

2. Business Management :

Performance Monitoring : Track performance against KPIs set by the Senior Vice President (SVP), identifying growth opportunities and

potential shortfalls.

  • Forecasting : Prepare and submit regular forecasts for expected monthly Gross Profit, ensuring accuracy and reliability.
  • Reporting : Share weekly business updates with the leadership team, highlighting new project briefs, commissions, and upcoming sales opportunities.

CRM Management : Maintain and update contacts leads and opportunities within MMR’s CRM system.

Purchase Orders and Invoicing : Ensure that client POs are raised, and invoices despatched in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years Previous experience within an ad-hoc agency environment or client-side research experience is essential
  • Quantitative experience is essential and exposure to qualitative is beneficial
  • Product testing and sensory research experience is essential
  • Have a proven track record of hitting growth targets
  • Be commercial, with a drive to focus on growth and ambition
  • Highly collaborative and always seeking to get the best out of people
  • Ability to learn quickly and speak about the MMR Family confidently with clients
  • You’ll be a great negotiator, comfortable leading in procurement type situations, balancing the needs of the client with those of MMR’s
  • An organised, strategic thinker with excellent time keeping skills
  • A keen interest in innovation and brand strategy (desired)
  • Genuine curiosity’ and wanting to get to know more about client issues, strategies and a desire to influence decisions
