About the Company

This family-owned manufacturer has grown to 7 facilities across North America, with more expansion underway. Known for its collaborative culture, strong customer relationships, and continuous growth, the company is seeking a Senior Field Service Engineer to join the team in Gahanna, OH.

This is a hands-on, customer-facing position where you'll act as the first line of support for troubleshooting and problem-solving. The role involves working directly with customers to resolve controls and automation issues, support new equipment startups, and help improve products and services.

Responsibilities

Serve as the primary point of contact for customer support calls — providing troubleshooting, documentation, and escalation when needed.
Troubleshoot controls and electrical systems (Allen Bradley primarily, with Siemens and Mitsubishi exposure) and trace issues through electrical schematics.
Travel to customer sites (30–50%, mostly across North America) to resolve issues, provide on-site support, and assist with startups or escalations.
Review and support equipment being built on the floor prior to shipment.
Handle emergency service travel while junior technicians cover scheduled maintenance.
Translate customer feedback into actionable improvements for engineering teams.
Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure customer success and equipment reliability.

Qualifications

5+ years of field service, controls, or automation experience.

Strong mechanical aptitude with a focus on controls and automation.

Hands-on experience with PLC / HMI troubleshooting (Allen Bradley is key, Siemens / Mitsubishi a plus).

Ability to travel up to 50% (mostly Monday–Friday, short trips; occasional longer startup trips).

Strong communication and customer-facing skills.

Industry background in food manufacturing preferred, but CNC / OEM experience is also valued.
