Title : Sr. Engineer, Controls

Reports to : Manager, Equipment

Location : Holland, MI

Summary

As a Sr. Controls Engineer, you will lead the design, installation, and maintenance of vendor specific PLC systems.

Responsibilities :

  • Serve as the lead programmer of the automation and controls systems of various manufacturers (Italy, Japan, Korea)
  • Create, monitor, and modify logic for program design, simulation and testing, start-up, and troubleshooting
  • Analyze equipment issues and lead the advancement of equipment programs
  • Perform equipment preventive maintenance
  • Create and track FDC
  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert to improve equipment production
  • Document procedures, including trouble shooting and root cause analysis
  • Collaborate with multiple vendors
  • Provide training to Engineers, Technicians, and Operators
  • Maintain cleanliness at work-site in accordance with 5S3R Standards :

Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain

  • Right Location, Right Quantity, Right Container
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree required, MBA or MS preferred, or equivalent, relevant experience
  • Experience :

  • 7+ years of experience working in a manufacturing or automotive engineering environment
  • Experience in Battery systems or processes is desired
  • Experience with C# and Python
  • Skills :

  • Expert knowledge of controls and electrical systems design, automation, mechanical assemblies, and manufacturing assembly equipment
  • Expert knowledge of electrical systems and Mitsubishi PLC & Pro-face HMI software
  • Proven programming skills
  • Strong mechanical skills
  • Proven problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent time management and the ability to work independently
  • Proactive, resourceful and highly motivated
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to mentor, train, and collaborate with other teams across the organization
  • Ability to work flexible hours as needed to support entire production team
  • Ability to work flexible hours as needed to support and work with HQ and global sites
