Job Description
GTRI’s Cooperative Education ( co-op ) program offers you extensive opportunities to participate in diverse scientific and technological endeavors, use state-of-the-art equipment and rapidly improve your technical and leadership skills.
The program allows you to alternate three semesters of full-time work at GTRI with semesters of full-time school.
GTRI’s Cybersecurity, Information Protection, and Hardware Evaluation Research (CIPHER) Lab is looking for Co-op position to start in Fall 2024.
You will be working with the Secure Information Systems Division on developing and maintaining secure hosting environments for a variety of applications.
Projects will utilize Linux, Windows, Ansible, Citrix, Python, Splunk, and / or Amazon Web Services in addition to lower level storage and networking stack components to solve complex problems for highly scrutinized secure workloads.
You will have the opportunity to interface with other students, as well as professionals, while developing secure environments for the division’s cutting edge research projects.
Required Minimum Qualifications
Co-op :
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering
- 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA
- Must be eligible to be approved by your college / university to participate in a co-op program and register for co-op credit with your university during work terms
- Must be able to complete at least three full-time co-op terms (alternating three terms of full-time work at GTRI with semesters of full-time school) prior to graduation
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Windows or Linux server administration
- Ability or interest to script with Python
- Strong interpersonal and team skill
- Ability to clearly communicate technical ideas to technical and non-technical team members
- Ability to quickly learn new software applications and tools
- Candidates that are willing to commit to multiple terms will be preferred

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.
Clearance Type Required
Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain an active security clearance.
