Job Description

The Red Gate Group is seeking a highly skilled Sr. DevOps Engineer to support the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) in Reston, VA.

Key Responsibilities :

• Lead the design, development, and support of DevOps tools and CI / CD pipelines.
• Manage Kubernetes-based containerization, including building images and orchestrating deployments.
• Oversee the deployment and management of automation tools like Ansible, Puppet, and Chef.
• Implement and optimize infrastructure-as-code environments for large-scale deployments.
• Ensure security and compliance by evaluating and mitigating vulnerabilities in containerized environments.
• Mentor junior developers and guide teams toward innovative, mission-aligned solutions.

Qualifications

• Active TS / SCI
• Experience developing custom applications and supporting them in a production environment
• 5+ years of experience building and supporting DevOps tools and CI / CD pipelines
• 3+ years of experience with containerization, building images and orchestrating deployments in Kubernetes
• 2+ years of experience managing tools deployed with Helm using ArgoCD or Flux and writing custom Helm charts
• 2+ years of experience with automation tools (e.g. Ansible, Puppet, Chef)
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code environments, including activities around the automated server or network configurations, large-scale software deployments, or monitoring and testing, such as continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI / CD)
• Knowledge of container networking, monitoring, and storage solutions
• Knowledge of container security technologies with experience evaluating and mitigating or resolving vulnerability findings

Desired Skills & Experience

• Experience developing in Java or Python
• Experience with Prometheus / Grafana and / or ElasticSearch / Kibana and FluentD
• Experience with design, deployment, and management of Cloud environments, including AWS or Azure
• Experience with using or migrating continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD) pipeline solutions or tools, including Jenkins, Git, or TeamCity
• Experience with system integration using a variety of protocols, including JSON, REST, and XML
• Experience with scripting in Bash, PowerShell, Python, Groovy, or Ruby and leveraging JSON, YAML, or XML for configuration
• Knowledge of cloud and virtualization-based technologies, including Docker, Azure, AWS, or VMware
• Knowledge of Linux or UNIX administration and automation
• Knowledge of foundational system administration principles
• Knowledge of and experience with classified environment processes and protocols
• Kubernetes certification
