Control Management

Control Management, as a front-line group, delivers risk and control programs, routines, and expertise to Business Groups and Enterprise Functions (BG / EF) across the enterprise.

Each BG / EF has a designated Control Management Executive, who collaborates with the head of the BG / EF and reports to the Chief Control Management Executive.

Through close partnership with the service model owners and business leaders, Control Management enables the development and maintenance of a strong control environment that leads to early identification and sustainable mitigation of operational risk.

The Role

The Payments Operations Control, Control Management Executive will report to the Shared Services Control leader and serve as the key strategic partner to the Head of Payment Operations and Head of Payments Transformation both part of the Shared Service Operations in the COO organization.

The position will lead a team responsible for horizontal leadership across the Payments space to include end to end thought leadership consistency in control design and risk management to ensure product offerings are stable, secure, and scalable across the businesses in Global Treasury Management (GTM), Consumer, Wholesale and Finance.

Responsibilities Include :

Executive Stakeholder Strategic Engagement : Direct / daily interaction with the Head of Payment Operations on strategic planning and execution of business and Control priorities.

Control teams work in partnership with the businesses to execute, fulfill, and deliver against stated control roles, responsibilities, and Program and Corporate Policy requirements.

These functions span Payments across all lines of business, regulators and the three lines of defense which include first line, second line and Audit Functions.

Control oversight of all Regulatory Exam / Deliverables including Issue Management Execution : Responsible to lead oversight of regulatory responses, control development, remediation planning, evidence / review and related governance processes.

Accountable leader to also deliver against Issues Management and execution of all related processes for all areas of responsibility that span Payment Operations across all lines of business, regulators and the three lines of defense which include first line, second line and Audit functions.

RCSA Oversight and Leadership : Responsible party to lead RCSA execution, oversight, maintenance, and execution for all areas of responsibility that span Payment Operations across all lines of business, regulators, and the three lines of defense which include first line, second line and Audit functions.

The accountable leader will also be responsible to architect the go forward model for RCSA as the organization transitions to a more sustainable model.

Organizational Leadership and Strategic Planning : Accountable leader for all programs / initiatives across all areas of responsibility to ensure alignment to enterprise / control priorities, as well as overall resource management and capacity planning.

Examples include Control Rationalization, Control Automation and Control Effectiveness. Additionally, oversight for all initiatives related to people, processes and systems across Payment Control.

The successful candidate will also work closely with Senior Executives across the respective businesses and with other Control Executives in the development and execution of company risk management strategies.

Accordingly, critical success factors will include the ability to develop partnerships with many functional areas, provide insight into the regulatory climate, and identify trends which may present opportunities or reflect gaps in the Company's strategic execution / direction.

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of Risk Management experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following : work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 4+ years of Management experience

Desired Qualifications

  • Effective understanding and execution of risk management programs, including Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA), Enterprise Risk Identification & Assessment (ERIA) and Issues Management.
  • A strong track record with business knowledge in the financial services sector with subject-matter expertise in payment operations, to include strong working knowledge of cross technology impacts and the role it plays in the success of the function and operations.
  • Demonstrates the ability to make subjective and informed decisions based upon output, influence stakeholders and justify decision making.
  • Understands the respective businesses they are supporting and understanding of related laws / rules / regulations.
  • Strong analytical ability used to identify risks and confidently raise issues and through proper statue and authority will counsel and escalate early and when necessary.
  • Design a control and ways to measure effectiveness.
  • Meaningful knowledge across the enterprise risk management framework, including : risk identification, risk appetite and strategy, risk-related decisions, processes and controls, risk analytics and governance.
  • Strong interpersonal, influencing, and communications skills with an ability to interact effectively with stakeholders and regulators, to include virtual, matrixed leadership experience and the ability to effectively manage and build relationships within the enterprise Risk function and the business.
  • Influence business partners including enterprise functions through networking, communication and written products.
  • Ability to analyze, problem solve with demonstrated excellence at identifying stakeholders, understanding needs, and driving decision- making / resolution through a consensus building approach.
  • Implement solutions through written action plans, procedures and change management.
  • Understand the impacts / benefits of emerging technologies (automation / machine learning / etc.) on the operating and control environment.
  • Deep understanding of ever-evolving governance processes and regulatory environments.
  • Ability to fluently articulate strategy and operations; translating organizational strategies into clear objectives and action.
  • Experience working horizontally across an organization and participating in enterprise-wide implementations of major policy and relevant risk programs.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a rapidly changing and complex environment.
  • Bachelor's degree and advanced degree preferred.

Pay Range

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to achievements, skills, experience, or work location.

The range listed is just one component of the compensation package offered to candidates.

$207,900.00 - $431,900.00
