Objectives of this Role : The Quality Manager is responsible for ensuring and overseeing quality assurance of our products while collaborating cross-functionally to support continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Set & maintain quality standards and metrics, monitor defect levels, support repairs, and manage issues related to customer complaints and verifies policies for quality control / assurance
  • Function as a primary liaison for various customers to resolve quality issues, ensure appropriate flow down of quality requirements, enable positive channels of communication, and ensure customer satisfaction, i.

e. maintain an effective corrective / preventive action, and root cause analysis system for internal and external problems.

  • Oversees the investigative & resolution of customer complaints regarding technical or quality issues.
  • Manages damaged & defective items procedures
  • Confers with manufacturing / Product / Sales / Management about quality assurance of new products designed and manufactured products on market to rectify problems
  • Collaborate closely with Product Developers, Product Managers, Supply Chain, and other departments to ensure quality alignment
  • Participate in product development and launch activities, providing quality input
  • Create detailed specifications for suppliers, aligned with our product specification requirements
  • Define requirements and ensure product and supplier compliance
  • Investigate deviations, non-conformances, and customer complaints, compiles reports on non-conformances providing solid root causes, implementing corrective and preventive actions
  • Maintains all records related to quality, customer complaints, corrective action plans, preventive actions
  • Suggests alternative methods and procedures in solving problems and meeting changing market opportunities
  • Supports top management personnel in formulating and establishing company policies, operating procedures and goals with respect to Quality
  • Conducts meetings to establish, delineate and review program organizational policies, to coordinate functions and operations between departments and to establish responsibilities and procedures for attainting quality objectives
  • Visits and / or confers with representatives of supply vendors to obtain information related to supply quality, capacity of vendor to meet orders and vendor quality standards
  • Assess and mitigate risk related to quality compliance, and develop and implement risk mitigation strategies
  • Ensure that risk assessments are conducted for new products, processes, and changes
  • Demonstrate mastery implementing, driving, and sustaining improvements to the Quality Management System to ensure auditable compliance to appliable standards.
  • Reduce the Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ), provide data, and escalate actionable insights for timely resolution.
  • Reviews data obtained during all quality assurance activities to ensure consistency
  • Analyze current operational processes and performance, recommending solutions for improvement and elimination of waste, where possible.
  • Prepares for annual ISO-9001 certifications & audits based on established internal processes
  • Applies statistical process control (SPC) methods for analyzing data to evaluate the current process and process changes.
  • Designs & implements quality assurance training programs and education to key personnel.

Leadership Expectations :

  • Directly supervises Quality staff and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws
  • Responsible for team leadership of new product development viability, pre-shipment sample testing, and customer product returns for inspection.

  • Develops initial and subsequent modifications of programs within the quality group to delineate areas of responsibility, personnel requirements and operations procedures within program

  • Change leader driving a culture of continuous improvement by employing Practical Process Improvement concepts and managing metrics.
  • Coordinate efficient utilization of quality resources. Drive a culture of quality and continuous improvement.
  • Participate and in some cases, lead cross-functional teams to implement Operational Excellence Initiatives (6 Sigma, Continuous Flow Mapping, 5S, Kaizen, Poka-yoke, Value Stream Mapping)
  • Impactful Communication and Relationship Building. Must be able to influence multi-directional and non-linear relationships.
  • Lead, develop, motivate, train and manage performance of the quality team

Position Requirements :

  • Bachelor’s Degree is required. Preference for Engineering or Scientific field.
  • Minimum 5 Years of Quality Management Experience in a complex ISO 9001, 13485, or AS9100 environment.
  • Strong knowledge of quality standards and guidelines
  • Experience with quality management systems (ISO 9001, cGMP)
  • Excellent written / verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly convey information
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Proven ability to demonstrate analysis, critical-thinking and problem-solving skills to review systems, find flaws and pose viable solutions to those flaws
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a positive demeanor and ability to interact with all levels of individuals and collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Ability to operate under deadlines while still meeting standards
  • Travel 5-10%.
  • Certification in quality management (e.g. ASQ or Six Sigma) is a plus.

Location : Position will be based at our headquarters in Carlsbad, CA and must be 100% on site.

Total Compensation : Base Bonus equals a total compensation of $90,000 $100,000.
