Nova Biomedical Is hiring a Packaging Engineer to work on-site in our Enterprise Rd, Billerica, MA facility. This position will travel between all Billerica, MA and Waltham, MA facilities.

The position of Packaging Engineer would work with all departments (all facilities) within Nova that have packaging requirements.

These departments would include R&D, Instrument Manufacturing, Consumables Manufacturing, Shipping (Waltham and Billerica locations), Consumer / POC Meter Manufacturing and Strip Manufacturing.

This position would be responsible for the overall technical guidance for the company's packaging requirements. Other responsibilities include :

The duties / responsibilities would include but not be limited to the following :

  • Packaging Design and Verifications (Ship, Drop and Vibration Testing). This would be applicable to analyzer and instrumentation, consumables, meters, strips, spares etc. packaging.
  • Standardization of packaging wherever possible. This includes design, drawings, labeling etc.
  • Cost Reduction efforts via design, standardization etc.
  • Review and diagnosis of shipping damage incidents.
  • Assist Supplier Quality Engineering (SQE) with resolving supplier related issues. This would include assisting SQE in auditing suppliers as needed.
  • In-House subject matter expert on trending packaging such as green packaging, re-usable packaging, biodegradable packaging, etc.

Qualifications / Skills and Competencies :

  • BS Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical degree
  • 3+ years experience in a packaging engineering role
  • Excellent communication skills both verbally and written
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Experience with Solidworks
  • Familiar with SAP is a plus
  • Understanding of ISTA standards required

Education / Experience :

  • Bachelors Degree in Packaging Engineering preferred
  • Alternative Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent technical degree plus 3+ years of experience in a packaging engineering role.
  • 3+ years of experience in a packaging engineering role or a Bachelor’s Degree in Packaging Engineering
