Job Description :
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team in Burnsville, Minnesota. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing individualized instruction, support, and advocacy for students with special needs.
The Special Education Teacher will collaborate with parents, school staff, and specialists to create a supportive and effective learning environment that meets the diverse needs of each student.
Key Responsibilities :
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with special needs.
- Adapt and modify curriculum and instructional strategies to meet the needs of students with a variety of disabilities, including learning, emotional, physical, and developmental disabilities.
- Assess student progress and adjust teaching methods accordingly.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and parents to ensure the integration and success of students in inclusive classroom settings.
- Utilize a variety of teaching methods and resources to engage students and enhance learning outes.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance, IEP progress, and other required documentation.
- Provide a safe and positive learning environment that encourages student participation and engagement.
- municate regularly with parents and guardians to provide updates on student progress and address any concerns.
- Attend and participate in IEP meetings, professional development, and other school activities as required.
Qualifications :
- Bachelors degree in Special Education or a related field.
- Valid Minnesota teaching license in Special Education.
- Certification in one or more of the following areas :
- Academic and Behavioral Strategist (ABS)
- Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD)
- Developmental Disabilities (DD)
- Emotional or Behavioral Disorders (EBD)
- Learning Disabilities (LD)
- Physical and Health Disabilities (PHD)
- Knowledge of state and federal regulations regarding special education.
- Strong classroom management skills and the ability to create a positive learning environment.
- Excellent munication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a team and adapt to the needs of the students.
Preferred Qualifications :
- Masters degree in Special Education or a related field.
- Experience working with students with diverse needs in a special education setting.
- Familiarity with assistive technology and adaptive equipment.
- Training in crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques.
