Description :

The Associate Director of Specialty Pharmacy Services isresponsible for assuring oversight, operations coordination, quality and cost effectivenessof pharmacy services provided by specialty pharmacy programs.

This positiondirects assistant directors, coordinators and support personnel and works withthem to assure optimal outcomes and works closely with the Director ofAmbulatory Pharmacy Services in developing the strategic direction for thespecialty pharmacy.

The candidate for this position will be expected toidentify and lead the development, implementation, monitoring, and processimprovement of new and current programs, including the application andrefinement of the pharmacy practice model and oversee the quality and outcomesprograms required to maintain Utilization Review Accreditation Commission(URAC) and Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC) specialty pharmacyaccreditation requirements.

The candidate will also be responsible forcompleting other duties as assigned, including forecasting, and creating theannual operating and personnel budgets, and optimizing reimbursement.

The academic responsibilities of the clinical facultymember (Clinical Assistant / Associate / Full Professor) include the provisionof didactic lectures and precepting entry level Doctor of Pharmacy students,PGY1 residents and PGY2 residents.

Scholarly activities, includingpresentations and publications, are an expectation as well. Clinical Pharmacistduties include working closely with pharmacy technicians, students, medicalstaff, and patients in providing patient-centered clinical pharmacy services.

Salary Range : $160,000 to $195,000

Qualifications :

Minimum Qualifications

Graduate of an Accreditation College of Pharmacy (ACPE) accredited College of Pharmacy with a PharmD or equivalent terminal pharmacy degree.

  • Licensed as a registered pharmacist by the state of Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation or eligible for Illinois licensure by start date
  • Minimum of 3 years’ ambulatory pharmacy experience required, preferably in an academic health setting
  • Minimum of 5 years supervisory experience in an ambulatory pharmacy
  • Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary, progressive ambulatory specialty pharmacy services
  • Effective oral and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

Post Graduate Year 1 (PGY1) residency and Post Graduate Year 2 (PGY2) residency in health-system pharmacy

administration and leadership or equivalent experience

Advanced education in business, public health and / or health administration with demonstrable experience in budget

preparation and analysis, financial operations management, personnel, quality functions and the professional aspects

of pharmacy practice
