World Relief Chicagoland is looking for an experienced ESL instructor to teach morning and afternoon ESL classes to adult students living in Chicago through its Chicago office.
The ESL Instructor will teach creative and interactive ESL lessons that incorporate English literacy, digital literacy, life, employment, and college-readiness skills.
Both virtual and hybrid classes will be taught. This position is 35 hours / week. Classes are currently held on weekdays between 9 : 00am-4 : 00pm.

Role & Responsibilities
- Create and teach ESL lessons for virtual and hybrid classes that incorporate English literacy, digital literacy, life, employment, and college-readiness skills
- Utilize World Relief’s ESL and job-readiness curriculum and adapt as needed
- Assist students in exploring and setting educational and career goals
- Adapt lesson plans and materials for a multilevel classroom
- Provide class orientation to students before their first day of class
- Collaborate with World Relief’s employment counselors as they prepare and facilitate classroom presentations
- Assist students in the use of technology and online learning platforms as needed
- Guide, assist, and track involvement of assigned classroom volunteers
- Meet and provide feedback to students during end-of-term meetings and as needed
- Conduct formal and informal student assessments according to department guidelines
- Maintain up-to-date classroom paperwork and data for program records
- Follow up with students who are absent from class and communicate with program staff and students’ case managers regarding these absences
- Ensure classroom policies are followed
- Schedule interpreters for class assistance as needed
- Complete all required professional development trainings in a timely manner
- Maintain proper care of class materials and technology equipment
- Maintain clear and timely communication with staff
- Attend all required staff meetings
- Perform other duties as assigned

- BA in TESOL / related field or a BA and significant training in teaching
- Minimum of 1 year of ESL teaching experience
