Job Description :

To receive, sort, process, route and distribute incoming and outgoing mail and to provide routine clerical and manual work in receiving, storing and issuing equipment, materials and other supplies.

Responsibilities

Assist Material Distribution Clerks or assigned personnel preparing and / or operating addressing / inserting equipment.

After completion of sorting, places mail in appropriate boxes and bins for proper distribution.

Collects, sorts and delivers incoming and outgoing interdepartmental, inter-agency, special services work, and all classes of mail throughout the day according to postal regulations.

Processes and prepares any hand work mailings or special projects, verifies meter mail rates, and bundles, tags, and bags mail in preparation for US Post Office.

• Operates university vehicle when making pickup / deliveries on predetermined schedules and routes. Records vehicle mileage and reports all accidents and necessary maintenance of vehicles (cleaning and repairs) to immediate supervisor or appropriate personnel.
• Receives requisitions, checks for completeness and proper authorizations. Prepares outgoing shipments for crating or packing, weighing, labeling and arranging for delivery.
• Other related functions as assigned.

Required Qualifications

High School graduation or GED. Six months of work experience. Familiarity with office and postal equipment, stock handling, maintaining records.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.*

Preferred Qualifications

One year of direct work experience with postal equipment, stock handling, maintaining records.

Driving Required

This job requires a class "C" operator's driver's license. The applicant selected must provide a current three year driving record from the current state of residence.

If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver's license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident.

Salary Range

$31,200 + depending on qualifications

Working Conditions

• Considerable time spent lifting, bending, stooping and standing.
• May work outside in all weather conditions.
• May work under pressures to meet deadlines and schedules.
