General Summary :
The Financial Analyst is an integral part of the Finance department’s investment accounting area, developing a broad working knowledge of the company's investment strategy and practices, accounting and tax rules and regulations applicable to a modern diversified investment portfolio within a private foundation.
The analyst will be primarily responsible for accounting for the Foundation’s partnership interests and assist with ongoing improvements to daily and period-end processes.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties
Manage the partnership accounting process including the daily banking activity, the month end accounting closing process, the period end partnership financial statement analysis (rollforward) and assist with the year end audit process.
This would include the development of a quarterly project / task calendar to be utilized by all appropriate finance department staff members and communicating these deadlines to the investment department and the general partners as appropriate.
Manage the accounting systems (InvestSQL and Outlook Soft) as they relate to the partnership portfolio (including the interface between the two systems);
customize the systems to assist in generating the information need for monthly internal reporting, audited financial statements, footnotes, and other accounting and tax reports as assigned.
Manage the annual finance department partnership Federal Schedule K-1 project. This will include communicating with all appropriate general partners to obtain the availability date for all required returns;
developing a Finance Department data input calendar and communicating with the general partners to resolve any exceptions noted during the finance department review / data input.
Assess new technologies and software for appropriateness and assist with system installation and / or upgrades, including scheduling resources, beta testing and version control.
This entails being the primary liaison with information services and outside IT vendors.
Assist in the development of the financial statement and tax reporting, enhancing the current report templates; ensuring all required reports are written within OutlookSoft.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in accounting required; CPA or eligibility to sit for the CPA exam within a reasonable period of time;
five to six years of finance related experience ideal, public accounting experience preferred with exposure to preparing or reviewing audited financial statements.
- Experience in implementing accounting software packages and interfaces; Experience in report writing and building queries.
- Ability to exercise professional judgment and assume responsibility for decisions which have an impact on people and quality of service.
- Effectively plan and prepare for scheduled activities for the investment accounting function; able to simultaneously juggle several tasks or responsibilities efficiently despite challenging resource and time constraints.
- Ability to assemble information from diverse sources, assess the situation and develop a logical solution.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
- Manufacturing industry experience is required.
