POSITION DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

As a member of the Dead Tank Breaker Engineering, you are involved in all aspects of projects on electrical breakers from receipt of customer's specification to the successful manufacturing and dispatch of the product.

Under some situation technical support to field personnel is also necessary. The Electrical Design Engineer provides operational strength by supporting the development and maintenance of PTT's Breaker engineering procedures.

The Electrical Design Engineer is required to be fully involved in assigned projects and ensure deliverables exceed customers' expectations adhering to all company policies and practices.

Essential Functions

  • Acts as an experienced engineer regarding electrical engineering activities on Dead Tank Breakers, which involves HV Components
  • Analyzing existing processes to discuss improvement initiatives.
  • Assists with the process improvement of new Engineering standards for the product and maintains and improves existing standards and guidelines, implementing industry and company best practices.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing design functions on time and accurately.
  • Develops Dead Tank Breakers by studying customer requirements, produces design using short circuit program and testing manufacturing and assembly methods and materials.
  • Ensuring a safe, positive work environment.
  • Interacts closely with internal members of the engineering team to ensure that the requirements and objectives of the transformer designs are met.
  • Interprets plans, specifications, drawings, and documents related to engineering design, manufacturing, and testing.
  • Conducts value-engineering studies of alternative design approaches, such as using different insulation material or alternative parts from different suppliers.
  • Assists with investigations of electrical-related issues using tools, including root cause analysis as needed.
  • Participates in Dead Tank Breaker related project meetings and conference calls with customers and members of other departments.
  • Liaising with clients and other engineers to ensure products are completed to specifications.
  • Maintains reputation of PTT and breakers produced by complying with federal and state regulations.
  • Maintains professional and breaker technical knowledge by attending educational workshops,
  • reviewing professional publications such as IEEE transactions on product
  • Prepares Breaker performance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Provides Dead Tank Breaker design technical support to marketing for bids and proposals.
  • Additional duties as required.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven experience in managing field service operations, preferably in the electrical industry or Dead Tank Breaker services.
  • In-depth knowledge of breakers, their installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting procedures
  • Extensive practical experience minimum one (1) year

  • The employee is occasionally required to stand.
  • The employee must frequently lift or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move objects up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • May need a high level of concentration in a busy area.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Working Conditions

Monday through Friday and on-call may be required.
