Surgical Technologist

Overview

Fairview Health Services is hiring a Surgical Technologist for the Delivery Room at our M Health Fairview, Ridges Hospital in Burnsville, MN .

We’re offering an up to $7,500 sign-on bonus along with a generous relocation bonus up to $5,000!

As a Surgical Technologist, you’ll assist in surgical procedures by preparing the operating room, arranging, and passing instruments to surgeons, and ensuring a sterile environment under the guidance of a Registered Nurse.

You’ll play a crucial role in supporting the surgical team and maintaining the safety and efficiency of the operating room.

Schedule : This position will be working 0.75 FTE (60 hours every two weeks). The shift length will be 12 hours on the day shift.

• Our 150-bed community-based hospital currently has 11 OR Rooms, averaging over 7,500 cases a year.
• Our OR specializes in areas including : Spine, Ortho, OB-GYN, General, ENT, Plastic, Urology, and Da Vinci.
• Our call response time is 30 minutes and it is a weekend

Responsibilities Job Description

As a Surgical Technologist, you will be responsible for :

• Supplying appropriate instruments, suture, and specialty items.
• Maintaining aseptic technique during all sterile procedures.
• Ensuring accurate identification and handling of specimens.
• Counting all required sponges, sharps, and instruments.
• Assuring availability and accurate functioning of supplies and equipment.
• Modifying clinical interventions based on population served.
• Nurturing a culture of improvement, efficiency, and innovative thinking.
• Anticipating the surgeon’s needs.
• Following appropriate action in emergency situations.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications :

• Complete one of the following by hire date : Military Surgical Assistant; ORLPN (licensed in MN) Surgical Assistant; ORSurgical Technologist training
• Basic Life Support (BLS) through Health Care Providers (or ability to obtain by hire date)

Preferred Qualifications :

• Graduate from an accredited Surgical Technologist program
• AST certification or certification eligible at time of hire
• 1 to 3 years surgical tech experience

Other Required Skills :

• Knowledge of physical, psychosocial, and cognitive developmental needs of population served.
• Knowledge of age-appropriate outcomes and interventions.

Desired Skills :

• Demonstrate the ability to work under stress in a variety of situations.
• Ability to work well under a team environment.
