Who we need :
This position is responsible for assisting the Food Program in monitoring childcare provider homes in accordance with the USDA regulations.
They will also be responsible for the reviewing of menus; meal counts and claims. The food program specialist will also provide training to new childcare providers on USDA requirements and provide technical assistance to the providers.
What you get :
Starting Base Pay : $22.88 / hour
Hours : M-F 8AM-5PM With occasional evenings / weekends as needed

Primary Duties / Responsibilities :
- Monitor all assigned homes three (3) times per year according to USDA regulations
- Follow USDA guidelines
- Assist in training providers on USDA requirements
- Assist Food Program staff as necessary
- Maintain a file on each assigned provider and check for items that need to be updated
- Keep current on all regulations related to the USDA Food Program
- Attend all necessary trainings as required by USDA Food Program
- All other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Skills / Requirements
- Have a High School Diploma or equivalent. Higher education hours preferred
- Bi-lingual English / Spanish
- Must be willing to work evenings, weekends, holidays as necessary to meet the Food Program requirements
- Computer literacy in Microsoft word, excel, outlook and database management required
- Detail oriented, organized, flexible on availability and accurate recordkeeping
- Must exercise good judgment and common sense, and the ability to follow through on assigned tasks
- Display professionalism in speech and manner
- Demonstrate responsibility in job duties and following through on assignments
- Demonstrate motivation and openness to new ideas for the program
- Ability to work semi-independently without direct supervision
- Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with childcare providers and staff
- Ability to work effectively with individuals from a variety of cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
- Must have reliable transportation
- Must be willing to use personal vehicle for extensive driving across three (4) counties
- Must have a valid driver's license, clear driving record and proof of motor vehicle insurance
- Background compliant with requirements of the Department of Juvenile Justice
