The Opportunity

Ulteig is searching for a talented Grants and Funding Manager with deep, expansive knowledge of the Transportation policy and funding landscape to join our Transportation Lifeline Sector team .

Intended to be the first hire of a robust Grants and Funding team, this position offers considerable growth potential. Ulteig is a leader across our service lines in transportation, which include surface transportation planning and design, bridge design and inspection, construction management and administration, alternative delivery, and a broad, technology-enabled range of consultative services.

This position reports directly to the Transportation Market Director, and can sit anywhere in the U.S., but candidates residing in the Denver, Minneapolis, or Austin metropolitan areas are preferred.

  • Deep Knowledge and Strategy : Demonstrate and leverage a keen understanding of what's next in terms of policies, programs, and investments that impact our clients, and how Ulteig can best support them.
  • Reputation-Building : Build Ulteig's reputation as a strong Grants and Funding partner across our geographies and service lines.
  • Traction : Achieve a portfolio of successful Grant applications for clients and potential clients that result in high-value, high-impact, and high-visibility work for our technical teams.
  • Expansion : Expand the force and capabilities of the Grants and Funding Strategy team.

What You'll Do

  • In partnership with the Transportation Market Director and other relevant stakeholders, develop, execute and own Ulteig's national Transportation Grants and Funding strategy.
  • Develop, share, and leverage a deep command of federal, as well as key state and local, grant and program opportunities, pertinent policies and initiatives, and factors essential to successful grant and funding applications.
  • Communicate with excellence in all mediums, from in-depth proposals to e-mails.
  • Actively listen to understand client needs and the needs of our technical teams; build consensus and lead with influence.
  • Understand, build, develop and nurture Ulteig's reputation with potential Grant and Funding clients, partners and subconsultants, all clients, with the close partnership and buy-in of our Regional Market Leaders, Client Team Leads (CTLs), and technical teams.
  • Commit to a strong industry reputation and personal brand, with an active, visible presence on relevant Grant and Funding boards and committees, in speaking engagements, etc.
  • Identify, develop, and execute on opportunities to support and build potential Grant and Funding clients, such as by hosting grant workshops, conducting planning activities, conducting community engagement and consensus-building initiatives, etc.
  • Build and maintain diverse, trusting, and high-value relationships, both internally with technical staff, leadership, and shared services teams, and externally with our clients, our partners and subconsultants, and broadly across our industry.
  • Hold a deep understanding of Ulteig's existing and potential future capabilities.
  • Identify short-term, mid-term, and long-term Grant and Funding opportunities across our transportation service lines.
  • Develop a portfolio of successful grant applications across multiple transportation infrastructure funding programs.
  • Attend to all facets of our business related to your role and in the manner of a strategic leader in our company, from maintaining data on client contacts and information, to budgeting for business development initiatives, to participating in activities that promote connectivity and culture among our staff.

What We Expect from You

Bachelor's degree in Urban / Regional / Community Planning, Economics, Public Policy, Engineering, or comparable field required.

Master's degree preferred.

  • Successful grant writing history required, with preference given to candidates with expertise securing grants for Mega and INFRA projects.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in grants and funding, ideally at a consulting / professional services firm.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in managing and / or leading teams to achieve grants, funding, and / or project objectives (8-10 years preferred).
  • Demonstrated experience in client relationship building, community engagement, and consensus-building.
  • Independent judgment and initiative are required.
  • Customer Relationship Management software experience with D365 CRM, Salesforce, including Power BI desired.
  • Proven experience in Microsoft Software Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access) and additional software knowledge depending on specialty.
  • Must have legal authorization to work permanently in the US.
  • Must be willing and able to travel within the U.S. approximately 30% of the time.

Additional Opportunity Details :

Target Base Compensation Range for this role is $140,000 - $189,000

Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary include your job specific skills, education, training, job location, number of years of experience related to this role and comparison to other employees already in this role
