JOB PURPOSE :
As a member of the team, a CRNA is an advancedpractice registered nurse (APRN) who practices under the medicaldirection of anesthesiologists to deliver high-quality, patientcentered, evidence-based anesthesia services.
The CRNA cares forpatients at all acuity levels in a variety of settings includingbut not limited to surgical, obstetrical, diagnostic andtherapeutic procedures.
KEYRESPONSIBILITIES :
Clinicalresponsibilities of the CRNA will be delegated by ananesthesiologist. Care is directed by an anesthesiologist whoshares responsibility for the patient.
With the direction of theanesthesiologist the CRNA will :
- Contribute to the preoperativecollection and documentation of patient data
- Review, request, and order (as permitted bystate law), laboratory / diagnosticstudies
- Obtain, order, and administerpre-anesthetic medication or treatment
- Developand implement an anesthesia care plan
- Obtain,prepare, and use equipment, invasive and non-invasive monitorssupplies, and drugs for the administration of sedation andanesthesia;
perform safety checks asneeded
- Select, order, obtain, and administeranalgesic and anesthetic agents, adjuvant drugs, accessory drugs,fluids, or blood products necessary to provide anesthesiaservices
- Perform all aspects of airwaymanagement
- Facilitate emergence and recoveryfrom anesthesia by evaluating patient response, and selecting,ordering, and administering medications, fluids, and ventilatorsupport to maintain patient stability duringtransfer
- Initiate and administerpost-anesthesia pharmacological or fluid support of thecardiovascular system
- Initiate and administerrespiratory support to ensure adequate ventilation and oxygenationin the post-anesthesia period
- Evaluate thepatients response to anesthesia and surgery; take appropriatecorrective action during the post-anesthesiaperiod
- Place and manage regional anesthetictechniques, as delineated by his or her clinical privileges orgranted specialprivileges
KNOWLEDGE,SKILLS, ABILITIES
- Ability toperform clinically as part of an anesthesia careteam
- Ability to operate, use, and interpretdata from a wide variety of equipment to perform anesthesia care aswell as necessary perioperative or operating room care to supportthe safety and well-being of the patient while they are under thedirect care of the CRNA
- Effective verbal andwritten communication skills are required to collaborate withvarious clinical staff and otherdisciplines
- Ability to demonstrate knowledgeand skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the patientpopulation(s) served
- Ability to demonstrateknowledge of the principles of growth and development over the lifespan and ability to assess data reflective of the patientsrequirements relative to his or her population-specific and agespecific needs
- Knowledge of infectionprevention and control techniques
- Ability tomaintain confidential records
- Ability toimplement and adhere to facility policies andprocedure
- Facilitate the timely delivery ofcare and efficient function of theOR

Qualifications :
MINIMUMEDUCATION REQUIRED :
BA / BS in Nursingwith RN Licensure in Georgia and Graduate of a nurse anesthesiaeducational program accredited by the Council on Accreditation ofNurse Anesthesia Educational Programs or itspredecessor
MINIMUM EXPERIENCEREQUIRED :
One (1) year of previouswork experience in hospital setting, clinical quality, orperformance improvement.
