Job Summary
The Coder I is responsible for accurately coding of professional services. It includes abstracting diagnosis and procedural codes from medical record documentation for clinic and outpatient visits.
In addition to applying appropriate modifiers and HCPCS Level II codes.
Pay Range
Minimum $30.33 Midpoint $40.19 Maximum $50.05
Experience
Required : Minimumone(1)yearofcodingexperienceinanoutpatientclinicenvironmentand / orspecialtyclinic abstracting diagnosis and Evaluation and Management Leveling.
One(1)yearofcoding experienceforphysicianservicesinhospitalsetting.
Preferred : Two(2)tothree(3)yearsofcodingexperienceina multi-specialtyoutpatientclinicenvironment for physician services abstracting diagnosis and Evaluation and Management leveling and minor procedural coding.
Education
Required : High School Diploma / GED or equivalent.
Training
Required : None required.
Specialized Skills
Required : KnowledgeofCodingPracticeManagementsystemutilizedforcoding.KnowledgeofICD-10-CMand Current CPT (Current Procedural Coding).
Evaluation and Management Leveling. Current Evaluating and Management Guidelines. Minor Procedural Coding.
Preferred : KnowledgeofCerner,Optum / or3Mencoder and EPIC.
Licensure
Required : Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist-Physician (CCS-P) or Certified Coding Specialist (AHIMA).
