The Collins Aerospace Avionics Test Engineering organization is looking for a motivated individual to be a Principal Software Engineer to work with multidisciplinary teams developing complex engineering solutions.

The Avionics Test Engineering organization is a global engineering organization responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of the manufacturing test solutions in support of the $5B Avionics strategic business unit as well as external customers including armed services and airlines both domestic and international.

As a key member of the Avionics Test Engineering team, you will primarily develop software for power supply testing on new Collins Aerospace products as well as supporting our deployed test solutions using off the shelf test equipment.

Your knowledge of software and hardware interfacing is essential to our team.

What You Will Do :

  • Review product designs and automated test procedures to create test solutions that maximize test coverage in the manufacturing and service environments.
  • Design, analyze, test, integrate, verify and document software of moderate to high complexity.
  • Use and interface with standard test equipment hardware such as digital multi-meters, oscilloscopes, network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers, power supplies and electronic loads.
  • Prepare and present project / technical information to peers, internal management and customers.
  • Develop schedule and budget estimates for engineering development activities across a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications You Must Have :

  • Software development experience / proficiency - Visual Basic (VB 6.0) and / or C#
  • Experience with software repositories, such as Subversion
  • Knowledge of software processes, tools, methods, work flow, and best practices
  • Familiarity with testing processes and / or requirements
  • Wholistic understanding of requirements flow-down effects to all stakeholders

Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws / regulations and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience

Qualifications We Prefer :

  • Background in testing of power supplies with domain knowledge of Avionics products
  • Demonstrated leadership skills - coach, mentor, and peer review work
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills including the ability to reverse engineer existing equipment (e.g., document something that is already built)
  • Have good communication, documentation, and collaboration / teamwork skills
  • Have the ability to think critically and creatively to innovate a world class solution

Onsite : Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.

RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education / training, and key skills.
