Valve+Meter is seeking a growth-minded Art Director / Director of Creative Services to join our growing performance marketing agency.

As a key member of our marketing operations leadership team, you will be responsible for leading the creative vision and execution of all visual aspects of our marketing campaigns.

This role requires a strategic thinker with a keen eye for design, strong leadership skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with various teams.

About the Role

Ensure On-Time, High-Quality Delivery of All Creative Projects

  • Provide quality results by getting your hands dirty in the day-to-day work, by mentoring creative team members as they develop their skills, and by monitoring the work of outside partners.
  • Oversee the entire creative process, from concept development to final delivery.
  • Ensure multiple projects are advancing simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to client specifications.
  • Prepare and finalize files for print and digital production, ensuring accuracy and adherence to specifications.
  • Execute design revisions and updates based on feedback from clients and team members.

Lead and Manage the Creative Team

  • Lead and inspire the creative team to develop innovative and effective visual concepts for marketing campaigns.
  • Provide clear guidance and expectations to ensure all deliverables are both up to the standards of Valve+Meter as well as aligned with each clients strategy
  • Prioritize work and resources across engagements, based on short- and long-term needs, and develop schedules by collaborating with designers, copywriters, and production artists.
  • Work closely with copywriters, SEO strategists, web developers, and other team members to create cohesive and compelling marketing materials.

Produce Engaging Website Designs as Part of a Collaborative Web Team

  • Create and build cohesive, lightweight, conversion-focused, modular, and scalable website designs
  • Ensure content strategy and design are aligned
  • Continuously iterate your designs to stay current with mobile trends
  • Follow Valve+Meter website processes, including implementation of SEO best practices in asset creation
  • Perform necessary measures to ensure mobile responsiveness & quality assurance across common browsers & devices

Develop and Execute Creative Strategies That Align with Client Goals and Objectives

  • Contribute to our strategic planning process (ThinkFirst) when needed
  • Perform stakeholder interviews, uncover & evaluate functional needs, and understand client audiences,
  • Complete comprehensive research & insight of client's industry & design specifications
  • Professionally present & sell design vision & assets
  • Collaborate with the marketing peers in developing marketing plans, analyzing results, and identifying opportunities.
  • Work closely with clients and / or account managers to understand the need and provide creative solutions that exceed their expectations.
  • Learn and understand clients audience insights, product benefits, offers, KPIs, brand standards and production specifications to influence the work

Meet Budget Requirements by Forecasting and Managing Expenses

Participate in managing project scope by collaborating with project management and senior management to determine resources required to execute creative work.

Analyze Brand Tracking, Market Trends, Consumer Needs, and the Competitor Landscape.

  • Stay updated with industry trends, including the role AI is playing in the creative industry
  • Find opportunities to improve systems and processes to keep V+M competitive in the marketplace

About You

Your Experience

  • BA or equivalent degree in design related field
  • 4+ years of experience as an Art Director, Creative Director or Director of Creative Services, preferably within a marketing agency, including leadership of direct reports and outside partners
  • Strong portfolio of work showcasing integrated campaigns (big ideas to execution) - brand identity, social, digital, video, website, packaging, print, and more.
  • Experience as a graphic designer, or production artist.

Your Skills and Knowledge

  • Strong creative vision, with an eye on business objectives.
  • Experience in creating marketing / advertising campaigns from developing the vision and messaging platform to overseeing production on time and within budget.
  • Proficient in Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and XD) and Figma
  • Deep knowledge of UI / UX best practices and design trends
  • Strong presentation, communication, and story-telling skills with an ability to sell concepts and ideas
  • Experience in creating integrated content across all marketing channels : digital, social media, paid media, mobile, offline, and print.

Experience designing and art directing for digital ad platforms

  • Proven ability to develop successful concepts.
  • Understanding of AI tools like Midjourney is a plus
  • Experience with brand positioning and brand identify. Storybrand experience is preferred but not required.
