Overview

Become a Labor & Industries Electrical Construction Inspector 1 and start making a difference by providing safety inspections of electrical installations. Help establish a level playing field for honest contractors by fighting fraud and abuse in support of eliminating the State's underground economy. In-Training period

These positions will be considered In-Training for 24 months. During this period you will learn and apply L&I rules, policies, state laws, and best practices in relation to electrical inspections. By the end of the In-Training period, you will be a full-fledged L&I Electrical Inspector 2 with the ability to :

Before You Submit Your Application

You will be required to take an Electrical Program Technical Assessment as part of the application process for Electrical Construction Inspector positions. This is an open book assessment that covers the NEC, WAC, RCW, electrical theory, and wiring diagrams. Applicants must supply all materials they intend to use (codebooks and calculators). Computers and cell phones will not be allowed.

The assessment will take up to 7 hours including a 1-hour lunch break. The assessment schedule is the 1st Tuesday of each month (address in Tumwater), 2nd Tuesday of each month (address in Tukwila), and 3rd Tuesday of each month (address in Moses Lake). Email to schedule your exam : electricalassessment at lni.wa.gov. Upon completion, you will receive an email with results and must attach that to your application submission. If you do not schedule and pass the assessment within two weeks of the position closing, you will not be considered. Passing results are valid for one year and can be used for other agency positions. Required Qualifications

A valid Washington General Journey Level Electrician (EL01) license and / or certificate issued by the Department of Labor and Industries AND four years' experience as a journey level electrician in the electrical construction trade installing and maintaining electrical wiring and equipment, OR a valid Washington General Journey Level Electrician license and / or certificate issued by the Department of Labor and Industries AND four years' experience as a journey level electrician performing the duties of an electrical inspector employed by the department or a city or town with an approved inspection program under RCW 19.28.141, AND proof of a minimum passing score of 70% on the Electrical Technical Pre-assessment. Must possess a valid unrestricted driver's license to travel to inspection sites.

The assigned duty station for this position is Everett, Washington. Telework frequency and in-office work will be discussed with the supervisor at the time of offer.
