Job Summary :
We are seeking a highly skilled MRI Technologist to join our healthcare team. As an MRI Tech, you will operate magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) equipment to produce detailed images of patients' internal structures, such as the brain, spine, joints, and organs.
You will play a crucial role in the diagnostic process, ensuring high-quality imaging while maintaining patient safety, comfort, and privacy during the procedure.
Key Responsibilities :
Operate MRI Equipment :
- Perform MRI scans on patients to produce high-resolution images of soft tissues, bones, and other internal structures.
- Position patients accurately to ensure optimal imaging and image clarity.
- Adjust MRI machine settings based on the patient's body type, the area to be scanned, and physician instructions.
Patient Preparation :
- Explain the MRI procedure to patients, addressing any concerns or questions to alleviate anxiety and ensure cooperation.
- Prepare patients for the exam by positioning them on the MRI table, providing necessary instructions (e.g., holding still), and using appropriate coils or devices for specific areas of the body.
- Ensure that patients remove any metallic objects and clothing that may interfere with the MRI scan, as well as confirming that no contraindications exist (e.
g., pacemakers, metal implants).
Image Acquisition and Quality Control :
- Capture clear, detailed images based on physician orders and diagnostic needs.
- Monitor the MRI process in real-time, making adjustments as necessary to optimize image quality and ensure proper visualization of anatomical structures.
- Ensure images meet quality standards, and re-scan if necessary to achieve the best diagnostic results.
Patient Safety and Comfort :
- Ensure that patient safety protocols are followed at all times, including monitoring patients during the scan to identify any signs of discomfort or distress.
- Maintain patient comfort and reassurance during the procedure, as MRI scans can take anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour.
- Identify and address potential risks, such as claustrophobia or anxiety, by providing sedation options or supporting techniques (if applicable).
Documentation and Record Keeping :
- Accurately document all MRI procedures, patient data, and imaging results in the patient’s medical record.
- Ensure proper labeling of images, patient identifiers, and relevant information for accurate diagnostic interpretation by radiologists.
Collaboration with Medical Team :
- Work closely with radiologists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure high-quality imaging and assist in diagnosing conditions.
- Communicate with the medical team regarding any technical issues, patient condition, or abnormalities that require attention.
Equipment Maintenance :
- Maintain MRI equipment, performing daily quality control checks to ensure the system is functioning properly.
- Report any malfunctions or technical problems with the MRI machine to the appropriate maintenance personnel for timely resolution.
- Ensure the MRI room and equipment are kept clean and organized, following safety and infection control protocols.
Compliance and Safety :
- Adhere to all safety guidelines related to MRI procedures, including monitoring for contraindications and ensuring that all patients are screened for metal implants, pacemakers, or other safety concerns.
- Maintain a safe environment by ensuring that the MRI room is free of metal objects and hazardous materials.
Continuing Education :
- Stay current with the latest MRI technology advancements, techniques, and safety protocols.
- Participate in professional development opportunities, including certifications, workshops, and in-service training.
