Job Summary We are seeking a highly motivated individual for a full-time Research Assistant position in the Translational Research Lab (TRL) in the Department of Cardiology at Boston Children's Hospital.
We are an interdisciplinary translational research team developing new treatments for critical care medicine, some ongoing projects at TRL include clinical studies of inhaled hydrogen as neuroprotectants (Hydrogen-FAST Study), development of injectable oxygen, as well as new delivery systems for therapeutic gases.

This Research Assistant I will be responsible for : Perform small animal surgical procedures (e.g., intubation, catheterizations, IV / IP injection) to evaluate the safety and efficacy of new therapeutics under the supervision of PIs.
Lead large animal research technician, including basic large animal husbandry, pre-surgical planning, instrument preparation, assisting intra-operative procedures and post-operative management.
Compile and analyze relevant physiological and experimental data; maintain accurate and detailed documentation of experimental procedure and results;
Assisting the approval for IACUC protocols, including protocol drafting and revisions. Shared lab upkeeping responsibilities, including maintaining inventory of supplies and medicine, assisting in onboarding of new staff, and attending monthly lab support and safety meetings.
Assist PI with the clinical studies, including maintenance, inspection, quality control of investigational products, and maintaining communications with the clinical team.
In order to qualify you must have : A BS degree in animal science, physiology, biology, or closely related field. Must be comfortable working and handling common lab animals including but not limited to mice, rats rabbits and swine.
Candidates with Certified Veterinarian Technician and / or Emergency Medical Technician certification or previous surgical experience will be given preference.
Prior research experience in a wet lab is preferred. Ability to work both independently and as a team member. The ability to accurately carry out protocols with an emphasis on attention to detail, and good record keeping.
