We are seeking an experienced and strategic Tax Senior Manager specializing in Property Tax to help lead and oversee all aspects of our property tax compliance, strategy, and planning.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in property tax law, regulations, and assessment methodologies, along with proven leadership skills to effectively manage a team and collaborate across departments.
This role requires a detail-oriented individual with exceptional analytical abilities and a deep understanding of tax optimization strategies related to real estate assets.
Job Responsibilities
Develop and execute property tax strategies that minimize the company's tax liability while ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
Manage and lead a team of property tax professionals, providing guidance, coaching, and fostering a collaborative work environment.
Oversee the preparation and review of property tax returns, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
Coordinate with external tax advisors, assessors, and legal counsel to represent the company's interests during property tax assessments and appeals.
Monitor changes in property tax laws and regulations, assessing their impact on the company's tax position, and recommending necessary actions.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Finance, Legal, and Real Estate, to provide property tax insights and support for decision-making.
Conduct regular reviews of property tax assessments and valuations to identify opportunities for reductions and ensure fair and accurate taxation.
Prepare and present property tax reports and analyses to senior management and stakeholders.
Develop and maintain relationships with local and state tax authorities to facilitate effective communication and negotiation.
Participate in due diligence efforts for potential property acquisitions and dispositions, assessing property tax implications and providing strategic recommendations.
Implement and maintain property tax software and systems to streamline compliance and reporting processes.
Lead efforts to identify, evaluate, and implement tax-saving initiatives related to property tax, including exemptions, abatements, and incentive programs.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related field; Master's degree or CPA designation preferred.
12 years of experience in property tax, including a strong understanding of property valuation methodologies, assessment processes, and tax regulations.
Proven track record of successfully managing and leading teams in a corporate tax environment.
In-depth knowledge of property tax laws, regulations, and compliance requirements across various jurisdictions.
Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex property tax issues and provide strategic solutions.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effectively engaging with internal teams, external partners, and tax authorities.
Detail-oriented mindset with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
