Position Summary
The Sr. Operations Manager is responsible for managing daily operations of Manufacturing, Quality and Supply Chain by leading those teams and monitoring performance against operational goals.
This role also audits, analyzes, and reports on operational effectiveness; implements company policies, procedures and initiatives;
and resolves escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.
Responsibilities
- Lead business activities for Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Technical Services and provide guidance and coaching to department supervisors and managers.
- Manufacturing : Monitor and analyze operations performance and make recommendations for improvement.
- Quality : Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and policies.
- Supply Chain : Manage the supply chain from vendor selection to product delivery.
- Technical Services : Ensure that technical issues are documented and addressed in a timely manner.
- Hire, train, supervise staff and evaluate their performance; ensure effective communication and teamwork among employees;
regularly meet with direct reports to ensure alignment with business goals.
- Lead and drive safety, quality, and continuous improvement activities.
- Develop, implement, analyze, and effectively communicate key production metrics.
- Recommend and implement manufacturing policies and programs that guide the organization in maintaining and improving its competitive position and the profitability of the operation.
- Meet or exceed financial objectives; analyze spending and allocation of resources; prepare and present data as needed.
- Actively collaborate with other departments and cross-functional teams and demonstrate and reinforce company core values.
- Manage building security and facilities maintenance
- Perform other duties as needed.
Knowledge & Skills
- Able to effectively lead various functions and coach department managers.
- Advanced knowledge of Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply chain standards, processes, and tools.
- Able to identify complex problems, evaluate options, and implement timely solutions.
- Proficient in the use of project management tools and techniques
- Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA requirements, along with best practices for safety in the manufacturing industry.
- Knowledge of data / statistical analysis tools and software and strong problem-solving skills
- Professional and effective oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency with industry standard software (MS Suite, ERP, inventory management software, etc.)
Experience
- 7+ years of experience in Manufacturing and Supply Chain.
- 5+ years of experience supervising Manufacturing and Supply Chain teams with 20 or more employees.
- Experience implementing and leading safety & quality initiatives.
- Experience leading budgetary, capital planning, P&L responsibilities within a manufacturing organization.
- Project management and / or technical leadership experience, integrating various functions to drive improvements.
- Experience using industry software to communicate, create reports and presentations, and manage business activities (MS Suite, ERP, inventory management software, etc.)
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Engineering, or similar field required
- Lean / Six Sigma certification is preferred
