Upper Merion Township, located in King of Prussia, PA, is looking for energetic and highly motivated Emergency Medical Technicians who will report to the Chief of Fire and Emergency Medical Services, EMS Captains, and Emergency Medical Director.

The Emergency Medical Technicians will perform duties associated with providing evidence-based emergency medical care to the sick and injured in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, standards, and the EMS protocols of Upper Merion Township Fire & EMS.

The Emergency Medical Technicians will be responsible for (including, but not limited to) :

Key Responsibilities :

Provide emergency medical care to patients in critical situations.

Use specialized equipment for patient stabilization and transport.

Assess, treat, and transport patients following PA State EMS protocols.

Coordinate with other first responders (police, fire department) during emergencies.

Collaborate with hospital and emergency department staff for seamless patient handover.

Maintenance of Equipment & Vehicles :

Ensure that ambulances and all medical equipment are clean, well-maintained, and ready for use.

Perform routine checks and restock medical supplies as needed.

Compliance & Continuing Education :

Maintain current certification and stay updated on medical advancements and protocol changes.

Attend training, workshops, and continuing education as required by the state or employer.

Adhere to all local, state, and federal emergency medical services regulations.

Required Qualifications :

Certification : Pennsylvania Emergency Medical Technician certification (required), National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) certification (preferred but not required).

Education : High School Diploma or GED, successful completion of an EMT Program.

Licensing : Valid PA driver’s license and clean driving record.

Experience : Experience as an EMT is preferred, but new graduates may be considered.

Physical Requirements : Ability to lift and move patients, work under high-stress conditions, and respond quickly to emergencies.

Other Skills : Strong interpersonal communication, critical thinking, decision-making, and teamwork skills.

Working Conditions :

Work is performed in various environments, including on-scene at accidents, natural disasters, and other emergency sites.

Exposure to potentially dangerous situations, including working near fire, toxic chemicals, or infectious diseases.

Physically demanding job requiring lifting, bending, and prolonged standing or kneeling.

Work in all weather conditions and operate in high-stress, fast-paced environments.
