Distribution Control & Integration (Northborough, MA)
Our Distribution Control & Integration team handles our company’s Electrical Asset Management and Engineering. This team is responsible for designing and implementing innovative grid technologies, managing distribution automation systems like fault location isolation, system restoration, and design Volt-Var Optimization Schemes.
Additionally, this team finds ways to integrate and optimize communication systems while overseeing our Active Resource Integration (Flexible Connections).
As a Gridtern, you will support on-going projects related to National Grid technologies and assist with integrating communication systems, programming, testing, and troubleshooting.
You’ll also contribute to system maintenance, data analysis, and the team's overall operations.
Distribution Planning and Asset Management (Hopedale, MA)
Our Distribution Planning and Asset Management team is part of the Electric Asset Management & Engineering team for the entire National Grid footprint.
This team continues to find ways to apply cutting-edge technology to ensure they are upgrading and modifying aging infrastructure along with embracing and integrating smart technologies throughout.
As this team works daily on several projects, their culture is self-directed and empowered, embracing the accountability inherent in our roles.
As a Gridtern, you will support with evaluating co-generation interconnection requests regarding their impact on the distribution system and develop plans for suitable connection.
In addition, you will help investigate complex customer voltage complaints and resolve customer issues and operating problems, i.
e., fault duty calculations, stray voltage, power quality, motor start, etc.
Electric Capital Project and Program Estimating NE (Northborough, MA)
Our Electric Capital Project and Program Estimating team assists with providing estimates for complex and non-complex electric capital projects within our New England territory.
These estimates are completed at various points in the lifecycle of a project, from early grade based on conceptual levels of engineering and project development to project grade based on final designs just before construction.
As a Gridtern, you will have the opportunity to assist in providing estimate support, assisting in updating and maintaining historical data, and supporting on cost database updates and maintenance.
New England Distribution Control Center Electric (Northborough, MA)
Our New England Distribution Control Center (NEDCC) team is responsible for safely monitoring and operating the Electric Distribution system for all voltages below 46 kV in the New England service territory.
This team helps to ensure efficient maintenance, repairs, and outage restoration efforts are maintained at all times. As action items are routed through the control room, operators will analyze each issue and provide directions to field resources on next steps.
Lastly, in addition to our system operations, the NEDCC team coordinates emergency response for all field resources. As a Gridtern, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the analysis of system issues using our Outage Management System.
You will learn the dispatch functionality within our control center, including dispatching field resources to outages and trouble calls, and how to use systems including ADMS, EMS, & AVLS, gaining a better understanding of our electric distribution system as a whole. *
