Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for an Engineering Assistant at Midsouth Steel LLC. located in Atlanta, GA. This person will be responsible for preparing connection design, product drawings and details for assigned projects which include, but are not limited to, analyzing plans, preparing schedules that are job specific, assisting with day-to-day engineering tasks, such as preparing and reviewing technical documents, performing data analysis, conducting research, and providing support to the engineering team.
This is an on-site role and requires the candidate to work in Atlanta, GA.
Essential Job Functions :
- Review project requirements.
- Read and interpret architectural drawings.
- Design steel structural packages including CAD drawings and supporting calculations.
- Creates sketches of proposed drawings using AutoCAD and / or other 3Dsoftwares.
- Modify drawings as directed by engineer.
- Prepare concrete structure and formwork drawings for assigned for assigned projects incorporating information from project drawings, bulletins, sketches, RFI responses and shop drawings.
- Assist in the design and detailing of forming systems.
- Review and analyze the project documents identifying drawing and specification conflict which affect engineering calculations.
- Makes final sketch of proposed drawing, checking dimension of parts, materials to be used, in relation of one part to another, and relation of various parts to whole structure or project.
- Perform occasional site observations.
- Provide technical support, preliminary designs / analyses as needed.
- Develop engineering solutions for troubleshooting as needed.
- Manage, modify, develop, and refine new engineering solutions and / or design methods and tools for engineering.
- Participate with drafters, coordinators, and others to contribute to project completion.
- Perform special projects or assignments as directed.
- Ensure the safety and health of all personnel in area of responsibility as related to work activities.
- Obtain optimal use of employee and equipment resources.
- Follow safe work practices with the goal of zero injuries.
Experience and Skills :
Preferred Qualifications
- 1+ years' experience in the construction, precast industry, or relative industry preferred.
- Working knowledge of RISA, RAM software, AutoCAD and Tekla structure are preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Programs (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook).
- Excellent communication skills.
- Excellent time management and organizations skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to properly organize, prioritize, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
